Hello Everyone! Due to personal obligations I’ve made the decision to write less often and still provide a content-rich column about the amazing art and science of Feng Shui. We have happily left the wild Year of the Dragon behind and have moved into the Year of the Water Snake. I think we can all agree that 2012 was a roller coaster year! Part of that was due to the Dragon’s Yang (strong) energy.
The Snake energy (Yin) is certainly much calmer. The Snake although more subtle, can still strike when it wishes. The Dragon is action packed, while the Snake is a thinker. This time is desirable for introspection, meditation and reflection for future planning. It’s a great time to establish communications with your angels too. Ask the angels questions, sit quietly and then journal their responses. Try some automatic writing or use angel oracle cards to communicate. Angels are always near for guidance.
This is a Water year which is related to science, academics, networking, communication and mysticism. This year also closes out the first half of the 12 year Chinese Zodiac which will start over again next year. This year will also encourage new relationships. Remember, the snake relies on feeling the ‘vibes,’ so really put your intuition to work! Is that new romantic partner being truthful, or acting like a snake in the grass?
There are several religious holidays in March. St. Patrick’s Day, Good Friday, Passover and Easter are all celebrated this month. I have to admit, my personal favorite is not one of these holidays. I really love the first day of spring! The Spring Equinox is on March 20th. It’s a time of renewal and fresh beginnings. I love spring colors too.
Feng Shui says that yellow is the most radiant color of all. It’s cheerful and lively too. In Ancient China, yellow was a color of honor and could only be worn by the emperor. It was also China’s color for a long time, symbolizing a long life. In the Feng Shui 5 Element Theory, yellow is assigned to the element of Earth. It represents afternoon and the coming of summer. Its vibration is one of balance and calm and it radiates deeply into Mother Earth. It encourages feelings of safety and stability. It’s the perfect color to use in the Health area of the Bagua. This is located at the center of your home. Always set an intention for what you desire, clear any clutter (donate, gift or discard) and use these items that represent the Earth element:
• Display objects made from the earth such as; stones, quartz, brick, pottery, granite table tops
• Use items in the colors of Earth; yellow, brown, tan, olive green
• Rugs, pillows and furniture should be in the shape of either a square or rectangle
• Add pillows and décor items with a horizontal pattern
Green is another spring color that represents March. It inspires hopes and dreams and stimulates the imagination and curiosity. It is a spiritual color and is said to give wings to the soul! It’s also the color of money, so let’s not forget that it represents abundance too! In the 5 Element Theory, green represents the element of Wood. It represents spring, morning and symbolizes growth and expansion. Just think of the lush green of a meadow, new little shoots of grass or a dense forest – gorgeous!
Feng Shui practitioners and energy healers know that the vibration of the color green can cleanse and rejuvenate your Chi energy. Did you know that green is used as a healing color and can calm the nervous system and lower high blood pressure? Since it exudes harmony and rest, green is used quite often in hospitals. If you are not feeling well or your energy is low, try this! Inhale emerald green light deeply into your lungs. Let it flow through your body from your nose to your toes! When you exhale, visualize this light is transporting toxins, germs and even some pesky fears right out of your body.
It’s also the perfect color for strong growth of the Family area of the Bagua. This is in the middle left side of your home as you enter through the front door. Set an intention for what you desire, clear any clutter from your home and use these items that represent the Wood element:
• Display large leafy potted plants, fresh flowers or bamboo stalks for upward family growth
• Use items in the color of deep green and light brown, no pastel colors
• Use vertical wooden items such as a columnar plant stand, bookcase or pillars
• Display a favorite family photo in a wooden frame
• Add vertical striped pillows if this area falls in a family/living room
• Place similar items in the Abundance area of the home – the back left corner as you look inside from the front door. Green = $$$
Archangel Raphael is the embodiment of spring! He is usually depicted with a symbol of the sun and he is wearing green robes. He heals through the elements of Nature and his name means “God Heals.” I work closely with Raphael (and Archangel Michael too) during Angelic Life Coaching. I love helping folks to feel better with holistic healing modalities. I also envision them surrounded by glowing green healing light during sessions. Remember it is important to continue to see your own physician for any health condition, coaching is not a replacement but an added benefit!
In Catholicism, St. Raphael is known as the patron saint of physicians and travelers – protecting all. He is also charged with the mission of healing the Earth. I know this task must keep him quite busy! One of the wonderful things about Archangels is that they can be with anyone who calls on them, any place, any time! When you make any Feng Shui changes, call on Archangel Jophiel, the Feng Shui Angel for assistance! If you have any health issue in the mental, physical, or emotional body call on Archangel Raphael.
Remember that humans have free will so we must ask them to help us! They are not allowed to intervene in our life unless it’s a matter of life or death and it is not our time to leave the earth plane. Some people like to light candles and say a prayer but no such ritual is needed. You can just say to yourself or out loud “Raphael I need help with ____”! That’s it! He will hear you and deliver the help you need. Here are other reasons to call upon Archangel Raphael, the master healer:
• Ask for help and then go to sleep. During the sleep state we are more open to receiving healing and love
• Guidance to a doctor who can help you
• Reduce or eliminate chronic pain
• Reduce anxiety and pain when going to the dentist
• Safe travel & to make sure your luggage arrives
• Smooth turbulence when flying
• Make peace with a chronic health situation
• Heal our fur babies and other pets
• Provide comfort in the loss of a loved one or pet
• Guide you to the perfect holistic healing practice
• Request healing for another person. If the person does not want to be healed, Archangel Raphael will honor their wish
• Clear fears and reduce stress with Archangel Michael
