Therapy Insights Your friend looks you straight in the eye. She has asked if you knew that her husband was having an affair behind her back. This has been the talk of all your friends. You hesitate before you give her the answer that could break her heart into pieces. The dilemma is whether to tell the truth or lie? If you were asked the question, “Do you tell lies?” you would most certainly answer with a resounding no! The truth is that we all tell lies sometimes, from little white ones to whopping great ones. A lie could support a prank, an April fool or a seemingly harmless joke. Perhaps you lie to make people like you or maybe you want to protect the feelings of a loved one? Perhaps an embellishment adds to the fantasy world you built around yourself to protect yourself from the truth. Lying about yourself in a job interview will bring a promotion and material gain, but what is the long term effect on your spirituality? Staying on a spiritual path is more rewarding than a big house, car, or material wealth. Family and friends bring more happiness and joy. Giving rather than receiving will always make you happier than just taking about what you think you need by false pretenses. The law of attraction says a lie will return to you many times over. Telling a lie affects your energy and cuts and wounds you deep down in your mind, body and soul. The consequences of telling a lie can make you physically and mentally ill with worry about the repercussions. Lying within sexual relationships causes untold misery. Lies about prowess or how incredible the experience was gives a false illusion that everyone is having a far better time than you. Love is the most important part of a relationship. A lack of honest communication may cause partners to cheat on each other. A truthful relationship with no barriers or secrets is the vital ingredient for a happy, long lasting relationship. Think carefully before you answer a question if you feel a lie may be the answer. Pause for a moment before you speak. Think of the consequences of telling a lie. Are you strong enough to tell the truth? It takes courage, love and respect for yourself and others. Being sympathetic and truthful is a skill that can be learned. Nurture your truth and honesty, set an example to your family and friends and seek the truth in everything you say and do. Reference: Mind magic. Betty Shine. Views:]]>
