There are days when I live under the misguided notion that walking the spiritual path is easy peasy, a piece of cake, every thing coming up roses. Well, it should be, shouldn’t it? Most days I’m able to come back to reality and cope with the fact that the spiritual path is filled with ups and downs, just like anything else in life.
Yesterday was NOT one of those days.
In the midst of throwing a spiritual temper tantrum I decided to have a ‘come to Jesus’ meeting with White Hawk. Growing up, members of my family would have a ‘come to Jesus’ meeting with someone when they wanted to lay down the law to that person, to make that person see the error of their ways.
‘Come to Jesus’ meetings rarely bode well for anyone involved, especially the one holding it.
Janet: I am really, really tired of everything being so difficult. Nothing is ever easy. I truly believe I’m doing what I’m called to do, but if that’s the case, why are there so many roadblocks?
White Hawk: Yes, we see that this question has been smoldering within you for a while. You have kindled the fire to keep it going, and to make the fire burn even higher and brighter.
This is not in your best interest.
Janet: But I don’t understand. If I’m on a spiritual path of doing what I’m supposed to be doing, why is life so damned difficult?
White Hawk: This Daughter, you must remember: You are walking your spiritual journey by living life as you do. YOU are living under the grandiose illusion that your spiritual path is benefitting others, is helping them.
This is not true, and you know it. You must rid yourself of this illusion, you must see through the illusion to the truth of what is.
The truth of what is: everything, EVERYTHING you do is about yourself and not others. It is about your spiritual journey and your personal walk. While others are affected by your walk, your decisions, the journey, is not about them, it’s about you. While you can observe how your journey affects others and use that as a mirror ABOUT your journey, your journey is still about you.
Your personal journey has nothing to do with others, only yourself. When you deflect your journey on to how it affects others, you are no longer on your path. You are lost.
Janet: All fine and dandy White Hawk. You still have not answered my question. Why is this spiritual journey so damned difficult?
White Hawk: Because that is your choice, Daughter. That is what you have decided upon for yourself.
But do you not also see, Daughter, that by focusing on what you insist on calling the difficulty of the journey, you have deflected from your journey. THAT’S why it’s so difficult, Daughter, you have stepped off your path.
Yes, I can see I have stumped you, you want to believe me, you are afraid to believe me.
You are afraid to let go of the false illusion you hold. You are afraid there will be nothing there, on the other side of the false illusion.
Daughter, until you decide to release the false illusion you carry, your life will continue to be difficult. Because you are off your path.
Only you can do this, no one can do it for you.
Drop the burden of false illusion you are carrying, Daughter. It is not necessary to carry that.
Drop the burden.
Drop the burden.
Drop the burden.
I leave you filled with Love.
White Hawk
