Alice in wonderland is a fairy tale about a young girl who falls down a rabbit hole and is introduced to a fascinating wonderland with a queen of hearts, a hatter and a Cheshire cat as well as many other enchanting characters. This magical fable opens the door to many themes from the journey of childhood to adulthood to the main character Alice, frequently making references to her own death without knowing it, as well as learning the rules to games which can be a metaphor for adapting to social situations that children must do as they grow.
There are many people who are looking to open the door to their own intuition, as well as the ability to make the connection with the spirit realm. On the flip side, there are many who are afraid of their intuition. They fear the spirit realm and want to keep this door closed. The door to intuition can feel the same as falling down a rabbit hole.
A beautiful young woman, whom I will call Bethany, sat in front of me the other day with tears of acknowledgement of the Cheshire cat and a mad hatter. This Cheshire cat being her grandfather who had passed several years ago and was and still is quite the prankster. He likes to make appearances whenever the mood strikes. The mad hatter being her uncle, he was a very social middle aged man who still comes by to visit her mother; his sister.
Bethany has kept her secret since childhood and is now a thirty something year old woman who is afraid of judgement and scrutiny by her peers. Bethany is just like many others who, as children, have been afraid of the boogie man and the witch under the bed, as well as who have many conversations with past loved ones. She was told this was not acceptable or possible. Bethany was told this was a fairy tale and now wants to tap in to her reality and stop being afraid.
She is now ready to embark on her journey to being open and accepting her gifts of connecting to the spirt realm. She just wants to walk through the door and feel safe without always feeling like she is chasing a white rabbit.
I explain to Bethany that we must first be accepting of our gifts and realize that it is a gift. By accepting the gift of tapping into the frequency of the spirit realm we can now slowly walk towards the door. Yes, there will always be scrutiny, as well as opposition, by those who are afraid of accepting the vast possibilities of the psychic phenomena and the spirit realm or the other side.
As Alice tries to understand the Caucus race, solve the Mad Hatter’s riddle, and the Queen’s ridiculous croquet game, but cannot, Bethany must realize that, just like Alice, she cannot expect to find logic or meaning in the situations or phenomena that she encounters, even when they appear to be scary, confusing or like games that would normally have solutions. Opening the door will introduce many realizations and surprises. These surprises can bring hope to many people who seek validation, as well as to the self, in terms of finally not being afraid and welcoming a new sense of peace.
Because you open the door, this does not mean you have to walk through. You do not have to play croquet with the queen of hearts or have a tea party with the mad hatter, but being open to the choice can be very exciting.
Through meditation and true acceptance of our own intuition, a connection to the spirit realm and one another, we can learn to hone in and fine tune our gifts.
The potions and cakes that Alice eats to change her physical characteristics in Alice in Wonderland would be remarkable if we could do the same order to enhance or decrease our own intuition; however, there is no magic behind tapping into ones intuition or receiving messages from the other side.
To seek the white rabbit with a time limit is not going to aid in opening one’s self to understanding the beauty in the phenomena of intuition. You must first ask yourself why and to what extent you are capable of using your intuition and be accepting of this. For sometimes, although we all have the ability to be open to ourselves and learn to exercise our intuition, this does not mean that we can all possess the gift of interconnectivity with others and the spirit realm, but we can all learn to be open to the messages or signs that are shown to us on a regular basis.
We can open ourselves to our surroundings. This will create awareness of the self, as well as all that surrounds it, including what is not natural and what is not seen. We can do this by dreaming, as well as being open to dreaming, and not being afraid of our own emotion. The gut never lies is very true in being in tune to our own instincts.
Fear as well as desire can and always will deplete our instincts, for then we do not and cannot see past the ego. One has to open the door by learning to read between the lines, to trust your own judgment.
When Alice finds herself sitting with the March Hare, the Hatter, and the Dormouse at a large table they are disagreeable from the start, and Alice’s conversation with them is confusing. They contradict Alice at every turn, correcting her with arguments that have their own strange logic. This strange logic is very much similar to intuition.
One should try to envision yourself sitting between your ego, your fear and you’re wanting for understanding. We have to listen to the strange logic and trust that the door being opened will bring us towards a light.
The light is knowledge and acceptance of our own truth, our own intuition.
Alice in Wonderland is very much similar to ourselves as we embark on our journey through the rabbit hole or through the door to the discovery of ourselves, our intuition, whether it is to accept it or open to it.
Just as Alice finds herself in situations in which the suggestion of death lurks behind many ridiculous events in wonderland, we ourselves are always pondering the risks of death and what else is out there. Wonderland may not merely be a ridiculous realm where expectations are repeatedly frustrated. Death may be a real threat, and Alice starts to understand the risks. We also understand the risks and the outcomes but are always searching for the answers and the door to the light, hoping to unlock the door to the other side. We all have it within us to go down through the rabbit hole and open the door to our intuition.
