This month let’s talk about Archetype Cards created by Caroline Myss.
While exploring the cards in this deck I noted the information in the book that is provided assists you in self-examination in order to discover which archetypes are active in your life. By asking questions, you discover more about how to develop purpose and become fulfilled.
I think these archetypes can be used alongside, or as a replacement for, astrological horoscopes as they focus on self-improvement and ‘life assignments’.
The book examines several elements; your life journey, unique challenges, life lessons, behavioural patterns, the inner shadow, and how to step into your archetype.
There are an infinite number of archetypes, but dozens of examples are provided, e.g., The Athlete, The Caregiver, The Fashionista, The Intellectual, The Rebel, The Visionary and The Spiritual Seeker. Archetypes are revealed in stories, fears and talents, and what helps you to feel strong and empowered. Sometimes entire families share an archetype.
Each card carries a title and an image and whether a light or dark attribute is activated. The booklet is concise and explains how to use the cards and about the archetypes and how to find yours. I found myself on almost every page! I like cards that have a self-development/personal awareness angle and I like to work on developing my archetypes.
There are 74 cards which express archetypes and 6 blank cards which are provided for your personal archetypes. The deck can be used alone, researched elsewhere, or used in conjunction with the book titled Sacred Contracts also by Caroline Myss. Caroline has a specialty in the field of archetypes and you will be empowered, inspired and have insights by using this card deck. We are all a mixture of multiple archetypes/sub personalities, but learning about them and how to express them is an important part of life’s rich tapestry.
