Now is the time of the Scorpio Sun Sign from Oct 23-Nov 22. They slither away, ruthless, secretive and quick tempered….oh look a Scorpio! Fret no more, those born during the Scorpio Sun are also known for their sensual, magnetic, passionately caring, goal oriented and dynamic side. If you know someone who is a Scorpio, then you are never quite sure what side of them you are going to be faced with. But if there’s a secret you have and just need to tell someone, Scorpio is your person, since they are very secretive themselves they are great at keeping secrets. Scorpios are deeply emotional, and often associated with the 2nd chakra, the sacral chakra. Part of the personality traits of the Scorpio Sun sign come from its ruling planets of Pluto and Mars. Pluto is known for representing transformation, fearlessness, and personal power. The planet Mars is the fire planet of raw battling energy. This dual combination creates a deep, sometimes, destructive sign. With this in mind, it is good for Scorpios to keep things in check and be careful not to explode. A suggestion for a person with this Sun sign is to have an outlet for dealing with any resentment, anger or insecurity they may be harboring inside. Scorpio is a Fixed Water sign. With this element combination the Scorpio needs security and makes the most of planning, building and achieving while maintaining their emotions in a fluid and variable way. Scorpio is like another Water sign member, Cancer, the Crab, because both are temperamental and hide their soft, vulnerable side underneath their hard shell. Scorpios have the drive, and endurance to achieve while keeping up with a flowing ease of motion. Let’s not forget that Scorpios are also resourceful survivors who investigate everything and that combination makes for a perfect private investigator! Essential oil of Ylang Ylang (Cananga odorata) is known for its energy of passionate and sensual warmth, softening those with a hard shell. The floral Ylang ylang aroma also promotes self confidence, thereby relieving insecurity and envy. Inhaling this deep stimulating scent may just entice this sensual sign of Scorpio to dance the Rumba, something I believe they would enjoy! The Cananga is a quick growing tree that yields strong, intensely scented, large beautiful flowers. The essential oil is produced by steam and water distillation from these flowers, which are carefully handpicked. Ylang ylang and orange essential oils make a great blend for cooling an agitated Scorpio alluring in happiness and charisma. The clean refreshing whiff of Orange (Citrus sinensis) essential oil encourages a feeling of joy and bliss, softening the potential Scorpion sting which can come out of nowhere if you are not careful. The energetics of this essential oil has an emotionally balancing influence on a moody and obsessive Scorpio. The fresh scent is also courageous, light-hearted and energizing in a soothing way. Orange essential oil is produced by cold pressing a ripe outer peel of the fruit. This sweet, fruity aroma is a favorite among children. A big plus with this essential oil scent is it instills a sunny disposition. Perfect to diffuse in a home to brighten everyone’s frame of mind and activate stagnant Qi (chi). Aromatic orange also helps those laugh again when life gets tough. Black pepper (Piper nigrum) essential oil is produced by steam distillation of crushed, dried fruits of the pepper vine. This aroma has strength, warmth and spirit. When the scent is inhaled it encourages flexibility, stamina and comfort with just the right amount of “spice” for our Scorpio friend. It allows one to open up emotionally to help express love and counteract anger and irritability. Patchouli (Pogostemom cablin) essential oil energetically is not only an aroma of centering and grounding but also of action, helping us take that first step needed to get where we want to go and achieve. This oil is also perfect for promoting reasonableness, something Scorpios can use some help with to keep their sharp bite at a distance. As an aphrodisiac essential oil, this blends well with the orange and ylang ylang essential oils, producing a va-va voom aroma. Need a little spice in the bedroom with your mate? Combine the 3 essential oils in a diffuser and get ready for the magic to happen. Everyone knows Patchouli was a trademark scent for the hippies of the 1960’s. Yet most don’t realize that this herb has been used for years as a moth and bug repellent. For those not quite familiar with patchouli essential oil, the scent is a deep base note in aromatherapy that is rich, spicy and sweet, a nice combination. A fun fact: Pablo Picasso was a Scorpio.
