What is Ascension?
Ascension is a process which everyone is going through right now. The intensification of Earth’s energies is forcing changes in everyone, spiritual seeker or not. The changes are raising humanity’s vibration. People are holding more light and, as a result, are capable of being more and doing more than ever before. Humankind is evolving.
The breath. It is so simple, so basic to all human life, yet so powerful a tool for health, energetic protection, clearing, connection, ascension and more. The breath has been used for ages as part of many yoga and healing systems. It helps to still the mind and body for meditation and brings calm to daily life. Good breathing technique has been shown to ease anxiety, reduce physical pain, increase energy levels and induce relaxation. Your breathing ability is even a predictor of how long you will live. An article in Science News in 1981 said that vital capacity of the lungs decreases between 9 and 27% per decade and that this vital capacity is a good predictor of longevity.
The breath brings energy and light into the body. The body needs these for optimal wellness. In terms of ascension, a mindful breathing practice helps to keep your energy, including your physical body, clear. It washes all unwanted energies through so they don’t get stuck in your body and relieves tension which further allows incoming energies to flow through. With all the energies coming at us from the environment as the ascension cycle continues, it’s so important to keep yourself clear to minimize physical, mental and emotional issues. Having a relaxed body and a mindful focus on the breath also allows issues deep within your cells to be more easily released, thus assisting in clearing your channel.
Exercise 1:
The most basic recommendation with regard to your health is to develop a mindful breathing practice. Be aware of your breath. Every time you think of it—regardless of what else you’re doing—take a slow, deep breath. Keep that going as long as you can. When you think of it again, breathe deeply and fully into your lower abdomen, then expand into your lungs. On exhalation, exhale first from your lungs, then your abdomen. Put little “BREATHE” signs up around your home and work areas to remind you.
Exercise 2:
Next, you might try something similar to the Gassho meditation that Reiki practitioners use. Gassho simply means prayer position. Sit comfortably for meditation with a straight spine and imagine the white light of the Divine, of Creator, of Source above your head. Breathe that down into your entire body. Imagine your body being filled with light. Use the breath to pull the light down and then direct it into your body. Then use the breath to push the light beyond your body and out around you. I imagine this reinforcing my connection with the Universal field and strengthening my sense of Oneness with all.
Reiki practitioners would specifically use the Reiki vibration of energy, but pulling in the energy of the Divine will work even if you are not attuned to Reiki.
I love this exercise because it just entails emanating positive energies; it does not entail creating hard boundaries or building a bubble around you. In this way, other positive, nourishing energies are free to pass in to you as well. (We’ll talk about the pros and cons of shielding on another day!)
Realizing that some people are very sensitive to the energies of those around them, I set the intention that this energy emanating from me assists in their awakening, ascension and healing if they desire, and that it does not overwhelm anyone. I desire for them only to feel good as a result of any contact with the energy.
As you become more mindful of these two exercises, you can do them all the time…anywhere!
The breath can also be used for clearing and grounding. The following is my own variation of exercises taught to me by two of my mentors, Joy Gardner (www.highvibrations.net) and William Linville (www.williamlinville.com), but I’ve since found similar exercises in Reiki and other healing books, so I believe it’s just a basic universal practice.
Exercise 3:
Begin by sitting quietly, meditatively. Focus on the breath. Place your focus/attention at the base of your spine. Let some warmth (or simply your focus) build there. Breathe that warmth up your spine, pausing and using a few more breaths if it seems to get caught anywhere. Breathe that energy up the spine and out the crown chakra at the top of your head and send it to the white light above your head. Let it rest there, with your Higher Self and with the Divine Source for purification, rejuvenation and connection with your highest wisdom.
When you feel ready, breathe it back down, fill your entire body and then send it out through your root chakra (at the perineum between your legs), your palms and the souls of your feet, into the molten core of the earth. Let it rest there for grounding and connection with Gaia, Mother Earth. When ready, breathe it back up through your root and let it settle in your solar plexus (just above the belly button) or in your heart chakra at the center of your chest.
You are now fully grounded and fully connected with your highest source.
These exercises and simple mindfulness can easily be worked into your daily life and can become a new and powerful way of life.
I’ll leave you with a message from Spirit on the subject:
“The Breath of Life. The Breath IS Life. Remember to breathe deeply regularly. Always. This will renew you. You have lost your focus on the breath. It is so simple, but essential for health, for wellness. Always return to the breath.”
