There are times in our lives when we need to slow down or pull back from all the external distractions around us.

In doing so, we give ourselves time to check in and heal any emotional pain we are carrying; perhaps there are emotions which we may have been ignoring.
Slowing down allows us the time to figure out who we are, where we are going, and what it is we really want for our lives. And, of course it’s a time for relaxing and pampering the body because this, in turn, further assists in bringing peace and calm to our minds.
Slowing down is also necessary and beneficial to our health, but it is important to seek balance in the process because it is meant to be a time for healing, not a time for stagnation. Slowing down is a time to self-reflect and nurture ourselves, not a time to fall into a depressed state of mind.
There is a difference between slowing down and shutting down. We stay in a healthy balance when slowing down by using the time for self-help or doing things to pamper ourselves. In doing so, we allow the energies around us to continue to move and nurture us, which builds momentum for our lives moving forward.
On the other hand, shutting ourselves down and dwelling on our misfortunes or frustrations leads us to be out of balance because the energies around us begin to slow down. When this happens, we may or may not notice we are pulling away from living life passionately or having interest in doing things which bring us joy.
Unfortunately, if we dwell in our negative emotions by allowing them to persist in our minds, we begin to create a cocoon of stagnant energy which becomes harder and harder to break free from. This unbalanced slowing down in life can persist for a long period of time, and for some, they may never find their way out of it.
Fortunately, we can choose to find the strength to look for inspiration and take steps to get energy moving once again in our lives. Others may realize they are trapped in a cocoon of stagnant energy which they can’t seem to get out of alone and seek help from a friend or a professional. Sometimes it takes something or someone else outside of ourselves to inspire us with a refreshed energy or perspective.
Just as we need to find balance in slowing down, there is a need to find balance in speeding up. Being active and productive is beneficial to our well-being because it creates movement in our lives which allows us to experience what is we wish to progress toward.
It is necessary to balance our movement with mental breaks and relaxation. This does not mean to exhaust ourselves daily and dream of taking a vacation down the road; this means finding balance in our everyday life.
An example of finding this daily balance is making time to meditate or having a mindful moment. How we choose to have mindful moments are unique to each of us, but some good examples are being in nature, admiring the beauty around us, exercising, body movement (yoga, Qigong), creating arts and crafts, or showing gratitude for what we have in our lives.
When we meditate or have mindful moments. We are making time in our day to connect to and receive positive and beneficial Source energy which is all around us. Source energy when allowed, will always assist in balancing our bodies, clarifying our minds and bringing to us creative inspiration.
We are unique in how we experience our daily activities and moments of life, but all of us need to be aware of staying balanced, especially when we are slowing down or speeding up in life.
If we are unbalanced, having too much going on in our lives will lead us feeling stressed and mentally frantic; while too little movement can lead us to shut down and feel uninspired.
This life is meant to be a beautiful experience in which we get up and live our lives, but we are human with physical limits, so we need to balance activity with rest.
Finding our balance involves checking in with ourselves daily and if we discover a source of imbalance, then we need to work on finding a way to counter it. When we actively do this, we will find our own unique balance in life, which leads us to experience a more passionate life and have the energy to get up and do the things which bring us joy.
