“When the earth is ravaged, and the animals are dying, a new tribe of people shall come onto the Earth from many colors, creeds and classes, and who by their actions and deeds shall make the Earth green again. They will be known as the Warriors of the Rainbow.” -Hopi Prophecy
I’ve visited a few sites which discussed the topic of the Rainbow Warriors and which seemed to define for us what their purpose is/would be. However, not much of what I read truly reflected the Hopi prophecy as it is worded above. While most definitions seemed to advocate how the Rainbow Warrior’s primary purpose is peace, unity consciousness and love, we are not really given instructions on how to actively carry out this purpose, other than via a mental form of consciousness that traps us solely within our minds.
After all, do the majority of us truly even know what it means to be a “Warrior” in service to peace, unity and love? Especially since many of us have been conditioned to consider such concepts as ideals that need to be passively thought about, rather than actively worked toward or achieved. Some of us may even be conditioned to believe that to be more active would be unloving or rocking the boat too much; or would imply we are being negative because we begin to see and take accountability for what we destroy in our world through our personal and collective lack of love. But, what if the true path to love meant being able to see all the ways we run away from realizing or understanding our own unlovingness, in order to embrace new definitions of love, unity consciousness and peace; definitions which are capable of helping us to transform our world in more concrete ways?
If you look at the word “warrior,” it definitely does not seem to imply a passive purpose but an active one. In being a source of action, the “warrior” of the quoted prophecy seems to be less interested in conforming to the current ways of the world, in so much as courageously transcending them; helping all of us from all nations and creeds to embark upon new ways of living and being. In essence, there are two main words within the prophecy above which are the key to understanding the Warriors purpose. Both of these words are also necessary ingredients to manifesting true peace, unity consciousness and love as well. These two words are: actions and deeds.
An alternate translation of the Rainbow Warrior prophecy is:
“When the Earth is dying, there shall arise a new tribe of all colors and all creeds. This tribe shall be called the Warriors of the Rainbow and it will put its faith in actions not words.”
If you see how it has been re-termed as putting its faith into “actions not words” this makes being a Rainbow Warrior something more than espousing precepts and thinking or talking about love and unity, but putting our love and unity into action.
Translating our Thoughts of Unity and Love into Action and Manifestation
We all possess the potential through our love to manifest more healing and alignment within our greater world. We can move beyond the mere idea of love, and what simply affects our own individual experience, toward learning to live our lives more consciously concerning what affects the greater whole…
For the last decade, spirituality has largely been focused on the element of ‘thought.’ Much of how we attempt to love or to understand unity consciousness is through thought only. I realize that this does not speak to everyone, and that the world is waking up in ways, but the fruits of the world and our lifestyles tell a story that somewhere we remained stuck in desiring to become a loving and healing force within our world, which such desires are often (and unfortunately) contradicted by our actions and lifestyles (whether consciously or unconsciously).
As a result, ‘earth healing’ is considered something that is to be carried out through the application of thoughts or energy work. We sometimes forget that our actions and lifestyles are founded upon thoughts and intentions as well; which these can remain hidden from our awareness. They may remain hidden because they are deeply ingrained within us and the collective consciousness. We have not learned any other way to think or survive; which changing in these regards can be considered an almost impossible task.
For example, sometimes, it may feel too hard for us to live our lives emulating one type of consciousness when the only way to survive within the world is to act out another, i.e. to be competitive, materialistic and to live lifestyles which destroy the Earth and all the natural treasure and abundance we claim to value (e.g. through driving our cars, through using forms of energy that pollute or harm the earth, through contributing toward depleting the Earth’s resources through our excessive need for material commodities, etc.). Many of us may feel stuck or may feel that the only way out is to learn to think happy thoughts that are independent of action because action feels too difficult to partake in. Then our consciousness naturally must resort to forms of either denial or of blaming something outside of ourselves for the bigger problems of the world, e.g. our governments, the corporations we buy from, and other institutions which we want these institutions to take responsibility for what is being created (which such institutions are too trapped in unconsciousness and faulty mind-sets to be able to make big changes in the world without the public creating a bigger demand for them).
Complicating the matter, when it comes to unity consciousness, many of us feel anything but unity with others. We feel separated and alone. We feel we have to fend for ourselves in life. We feel helpless to be part of what heals a bigger picture because we cannot conceive that our small self matters. It matters more than we know! We each are part of a larger whole in ways we do not realize.
The first step we can take is to begin to allow our minds to open up to new ways of thinking, acting, loving and living, rather than conceding that our accomplishments, dreams and lifestyles must adhere to the current patterning and expectations of the world. We can become a part of envisioning mankind coming up with alternatives, rather than believing that the action/lifestyle is to stay the same while applying healing energy or thought to the toxicity that arises.
A psychic once told me that “one cannot manifest what one cannot even visualize.” Therefore, being able to visualize being part of creating a future which operates upon more loving and healthy lifestyles, energy sources, systems and power structures, opens a window to manifesting these ideals. Even if, in the least, our collective thoughts change in this regard (which is beginning), then a new foundation can be set into form. This leads to more individuals getting certain thoughts and intentions out into the collective consciousness, which this action would have the natural effect of joining more and more individuals together with an intention toward change. Right now, many people feel they are alone or that their solitary efforts would not make a difference. To offset this, we can begin to visualize people joining together toward serving a greater good.
In the end, it is not necessary for humanity to feel without hope (a form of defeatism where we simply resign ourselves to the status quo).
How to Recognize the Rainbow Warriors
While a non-conformist, the Rainbow Warrior is not a violent revolutionary. He or she is both a visionary as well as an architect of change, freedom, ecologically friendly solutions, new styles of thinking, new styles of government, new ways of joining together and new and life/miracle supportive lifestyles…
I assume that when the Rainbow Warriors truly arise in greater numbers we will begin to see immense changes within our world founded upon a desire to protect and heal our environment; understanding that all is one and what we do to the whole affects ourselves and the parts. Because the calling is an active one, rather than a passive one, a Rainbow Warrior may be someone who writes petitions or gathers people together in a cause to protect wildlife, who boycotts the use of polluting forms of energy, teaches others how to become self-sufficient (e.g. through going off-grid, growing one’s own food, building sustainable communities, etc.), or who is a peaceful activist against nuclear weapons and power.
The Rainbow Warrior is a warrior after all. He/she is not a conformer, but willing to be brave enough to challenge everything he/she thought of as true. This includes the establishments, structures of the world, our lifestyles and everything else. This also helps the Rainbow Warrior to move beyond a focus upon the self and what one can manifest for one’s own benefit, toward a focus on the whole and paving a path in life that serves the benefit of everything around them.
As examples; Jesus, Buddha and most of the mystics and wisdom keepers of the world have all been non-conformists. Free of conformity, the wisdom keeper or mystic was able to see a definition of self, of love, of unity consciousness and of the world that goes beyond all we have been conditioned to accept as truth and the only way to live and survive.
To be clear, while a non-conformist, the Rainbow Warrior is not a violent revolutionary. He or she is both a visionary as well as an architect of change, freedom, ecologically friendly solutions, new styles of thinking, new styles of government, new ways of joining together and new and life/miracle supportive lifestyles (for the true miracle is the life that exists within us and all living things). Ghandi is one example of a Rainbow Warrior. For those who don’t know this, Gandhi was both an activist and environmentalist. This seems to me only natural since Gandhi had spiritually evolved enough to understand that we are a reflection of our environment and our environment is a reflection of ourselves. According to Pyarelal, within his book Mahatma Gandhi—The Last Phase (1958 and later editions), Gandhi is cited to have expressed in 1947:
What we are doing to the forests of the world is but a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves and to one another. Earth provides enough to satisfy every man’s need, but not every man’s greed.
I believe that the Rainbow Warriors will show us the path toward accepting accountability (out of love and understanding that when we hurt the whole we hurt ourselves). The Rainbow Warriors will furthermore help us to create needed changes to our lifestyles that may allow us to live in more balance without having to give up everything we desire. They will help us to found communities that are less based in competition, striving and money, in so much as being based in joy, unity-mindedness, sharing, caring, ecological intentions and a new definition of wealth. In fact, some such communities are already arising. The Rainbow Warriors will bring these communities into form in greater numbers.
For the Rainbow Warrior, Every Day is Earth Day
Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead
Every day can become Earth day, if we so desire. This is because every day can become an opportunity to see that she—our Earth—and we—ourselves—are one. The same miracle of life that exists within all living things on earth and which its existence is being threatened via the work of man’s hands, likewise exists within us and threatens our own body, mind and health.
So, this Earth Day, allow it to be more than just one day to think about the Earth. Allow it to be the first day to treating every day like Earth day; and if we wish to think thoughts of love and unity consciousness, to think of such well-intentioned notions while allowing ourselves to begin to envision a way out of the mud puddle we have created; envisioning a way to translate our thoughts into concrete manifestations within our lives and world.
