Working in a beautiful coastal town is a blessing. Walking by the sea in all weathers, watching the sun sparkle on the water or the waves crashing against rocks during the winter months is a tonic for the mind, body and soul. It is said that your Aura can spread for miles across the sea. The invigorating cleansing that this provides can be felt for days afterwards. Cornwall has been my home for sixteen years. It is the place where my spiritual gifts have been given space to blossom and grow. Before my relocation I had a thriving business as a therapist. Giving up that business and saying goodbye to my clients was one of the hardest things to do. Setting up in a totally new part of the country was even harder. Luckily I was soon offered a position in a local hotel as a massage and Reflexology therapist. As the salon was open to guests as well as members of the public I slowly began to build a loyal clientele. Some remain with me sixteen years later. Something else happened as I worked with clients. I began to pick up information about them as they relaxed on the therapy couch, totally unaware of what I was hearing. I would blurt out information during a treatment thinking that they would be as delighted as I was with these insights. Most of them were not. They had booked a relaxing treatment and that’s all they wanted. My ego struggled with this rejection. I felt clever and somehow spiritually superior. No matter how insensitive it may have come across, if I had a message for them I felt compelled to tell them. I deserved to be shot down in flames! This was a sharp and valuable lesson in how to manage my psychic abilities. You may possess a gift but it’s up to you how you use it. Some of the information you receive may be sensitive, even upsetting to the person hearing it. I had wished to a psychic but when this was granted I realized the huge responsibility that came with it. I decided to increase my therapy skills by taking a counselling course. Here I learned to refine my listening and people skills. I also learned to be gentle. This was not about my ego but about sensitive healing using the guidance I was channeling from spirit. Often a client would cry, sometimes within minutes of entering the therapy room. I soon realized that they were feeling love from spirit and realized how much they missed it. As the love flowed I learned to “sandwich” the information. I would start with a gentle introduction, then impart the more sensitive information always finishing with a positive outcome. Being a therapist, counselor, coach and psychic is the most rewarding job I have ever had. It is also the most responsible and sometimes daunting role. If there is a sensitive subject to tackle make sure you lead in gently, be sensitive and always offer solutions. Views:]]>
