One of the best things you can do for yourself and others during this ascension cycle is to assist the Earth with her own ascension. I have heard what the Earth is going through right now described as giving birth. She is going through her own contractions of sorts to bring forth a new Earth with a higher vibration.
These “contractions” are resulting in all of the intense Earth changes (i.e.: earthquakes, volcanic eruptions) and weather events (i.e.: snow storms, hurricanes, tornadoes). It is important not to fear these events and thereby send more low vibration energy out into the environment. We see the fear build as people sit, glued to their television for days as hurricanes approach, getting more scared by the day. Many of these people don’t even live within the area that will be impacted.
Instead, the first thing we can do is view these events with love, seeing the necessary role they play in our ascension. They are allowing Mother Earth to transform herself. See them as a beautiful part of the unfoldment toward ascension.
You can also take a more active role in supporting these changes and minimizing their impact on humanity. Quantum physics shows us that we have the ability to impact things that are distant from us in time and space. For instance, energy healers know that they can work on someone who is across the globe from them. They can pull in aspects of that person’s energy and actually feel and know what is disrupted about their energy. Psychics can tap into the person’s energy at the other end of the phone line and tell them what is going to happen with a job choice or a relationship in the future. These abilities are not magic; they are substantiated by scientific findings. We all have this ability to work with energy.
So how can we use this ability to assist the Earth? There are a number of simple things we can do.
1. Send calming energy. Some of us actually get excited by storms. I can’t help it. I’ve loved storms my whole life—the more intense the better. This excitement, though, will help support the storm, as will the fears of others. I’ve learned to take in the energy of the storm, while surrendering any desire for the storm to intensify or come closer to where I am. To assist in deescalating the storm, sit quietly, breathing deeply. With each breath, pull in light energy through the top of your head and direct it to your heart. Let it build there with each new breath and let it mix with calming, loving heart energy. When you feel like your heart is full, send it out through your chest to the storm. Imagine it lessening things.
If you can, get a group together to send energy with you. If you can’t, sit anyway, knowing that there are others of us around the world joining to support each other in these efforts.
2. Create a barrier. In Clear Channel: A Guide for the Newly Awakening, I tell the story of a friend who was staying at our beach house when a hurricane was approaching. Asking Spirit what to do, she heard she should walk the beach with the intention of creating a barrier against the storm. She had to do this several days in advance of the storm. On the final day, she heard the voice of Mother Earth thanking her for her support. Mother Earth said that she did not intend for the storm to hurt anyone, but that these were forces that even she could not fully control.

Even when there is no storm approaching, I walk the beach with the intention of protecting the land from storms. Because I can only walk so far, when there is a storm approaching, I sit in meditation and project out a barrier for the whole coast using my energy and intention. Hurricanes are meant to be ocean events, but our fears and days of endless watching them approach is bringing them toward land. Which brings us to the next tip.
3. Watch TV responsibly. Many people elect not to watch the news these days because of its focus on negativity and because of all the events currently impacting our world (weather related and otherwise). I choose to watch the news precisely because all of these issues are facing us. But as I watch, I am very aware of how it is impacting me. Is my chest tight? Am I sad or angry? I allow those energies to move through me, guided by my breath and then I focus on the situation out in the world and I send energy and prayers to those areas and the people impacted. Prayers are energy, too, but I differentiate them because they are sent verbally.
4. Dedicate your meditation to the Earth. When there is nothing particular that I’m focused on, I’ll sit in meditation, building up energy in the way described above, and send that energy out to the world, asking that Mother Earth use it to support her ascension and ease the shift for humanity.
5. Walk in nature with conscious intention. Take a walk or a run out in nature and focus on each step. Focus on where you are in nature. Feel gratitude for what you see. Acknowledge the beauty (and carry a bag to pick up the trash!). Dedicate each step to assisting the Earth. Not only will this assist the Earth, but it will also benefit you greatly by bringing you into the now moment. It will keep you in your heart and get you out of your head. It will allow inspirations to flow.
