5 Things You Should Know About Halloween Fortune Telling
By Susan Melony
We’re rapidly approaching Halloween, and that’s the spooky season. However, moms might face a unique challenge this year. You may have to tell your kids they can’t go trick-or-treating because of the pandemic.
Maybe you can devise an alternative that won’t disappoint them too much. Perhaps you’re sad about some Halloween festivity cancellations this year too. Perhaps you have a friend who always has a blowout party, and you won’t get a chance to show off your costume and enjoy some adult beverages.
However, just because circumstances have toned down the holiday this year, that doesn’t mean you can’t slip away for an evening. Maybe you and some friends might consider going to a psychic and getting your fortunes told.
Here are things to keep in mind if you plan on visiting the spiritual realm this year:
You Need to Find a Fortune Teller Who’s Still Open
Being a mom isn’t all about finding natural supplements and comparing kindergarten options for your four-year-old. You still want to get a babysitter and slip away for some fun occasionally.
Getting your fortune told might seem perfect. However, that’s easier said than done in 2020. That’s because:
- Covid-19 is still widespread
- Most Fortune Tellers operate indoors
Just like virtually every other existing industry, those who make their living telling fortunes, or even those who do it on the side, might not be operating right now.
If you can find a Fortune Teller on Yelp or Google, you should call them first. Don’t just show up at the shop, or you might find it closed.
Don’t Go if You’re a Skeptic
Some people believe in the paranormal and the supernatural. You might scoff at the idea, but think about how many individuals believe in Q-Anon and other conspiracy theories at the moment. Contacting the dead or telling your fortune might not seem quite so farfetched.
Still, it’s probably best not to go if you don’t at least believe in the possibility that what you’re going to hear is real. If you do:
- You won’t enjoy yourself
- You’ll feel like you’re wasting your money
Fortune Telling is a buyer-beware prospect. There’s no proving that what you’re going to hear is real, but then again, there’s no way to disprove it either.
What You Hear Might Upset You
Whether you believe it or not, you never know quite what you’re going to hear when you visit a prognosticator. Maybe you’ll know almost immediately that they’re a fraud. They’ll say you’re single when you’re married or that you have no kids when you have six of them at home.
It might turn out that what the Fortune Teller has to say about your life is dead-on. If that happens, it’s probably going to get your attention. What matters, though, is what they have to say about your future.
Most Fortune Tellers won’t get too specific about what’s heading your way. They don’t want to give you precise details because they have a better chance of nailing predictions when they speak more generally.
Maybe you’ll hear something that sounds particularly ominous or dreadful, though. Before you go, steel yourself for anything.
What You Hear Might Give You Hope
Of course, what the Fortune Teller tells you might also be good news. They might indicate that you’ve got an unexpected windfall coming your way in 2021. Maybe they’ll let you know you’re about to find love, or that you’re going to get that new job you want.
There’s no harm in what you hear cheering you up. Hope is where you find it, and there’s no reason not to take it from a potentially dubious source like a psychic or Fortune Teller.
You Can Take What You Hear Back to Your Life, or Discard It
If you do decide to get your fortune told this Halloween season just for fun, you might go there earnestly seeking advice, or you may do it just for a girl’s night out. You may feel like what this individual tells you is correct, or you might think within seconds that this person has no special gift or intuitive ability.
Whatever they say, you can choose to incorporate the information into your existence, or you can forget it as soon as you leave their presence. It’s your money, and it’s your life.
Fortune Telling has enough of a spooky component for those individuals who want to do some occult dabbling rather than completely diving in. It could be what you need for a fun night out right now.
