I am often asked if I believe each of us has some sort of gift, whether in daily conversations or during radio interviews. I certainly do think so. I believe we each hold special abilities within our souls, just at different levels.
Each of us has had a moment in our lives when we had a premonition, a gut feeling, etc. only to discover that it became a part of reality in their life. Whether you felt the need to do something but just had this nagging feeling trying to stop you, or perhaps you were thinking about someone and they called you that moment.
To put this in different terms, some are better at math, others at English, and then those who excel in art. Some of us have that certain something that brings forth deeper connections within our souls, making a more spiritual occurrence paranormal wise, much more common. Again, this is just my humble opinion.
I’m also asked, how does one begin to bring these things out within ourselves? For me, I found meditation to be one of the best things to start with in helping others. It most definitely adjusts my gifts, much like raising the volume on a radio or moving the antenna. Signals can become more focused.
Start with what makes you the calmest. What brings you the most peace? Is it the sound of running water, nature sounds, crashing waves, wind blowing leaves on a tree? Maybe it’s the sound of drumming or a Native American flute. Now, there are videos, DVD’s cd’s etc. all over the place. I simply went to YouTube and discovered a whole lot of choices. Many do have visual aids and for some, these may not be something you wish to use along with the sounds. Closing your eyes is simply the solution.
Don’t think you have enough time? There are no rule books stating you must take an hour, half hour, etc. I actually found a 2 minute meditation video. Try any of these and simply stop the video when you must.
You may also discover one of the most basic things I’ve tried, which is simply removing your shoes and standing quietly upon the soil. Whether you have a minute or five, you have taken time for yourself to reconnect in that moment.
I also recommend taking short notes after each time, even if it’s a few key words. Look back at them and see what you discover in time. It may surprise you!
As a Shaman, I find it completely necessary to reconnect with air, water, land, and fire. My personal favorite has always been water. You may find taking a minute here and there, in addition to or in lieu of the above suggestions. Light a candle, touch water, take a handful of soil, or just sit or stand and experience the air around you. If even for a few brief moments, you will, in time if not right away, feel a change within you. A peaceful change deep within your soul. It just might even make you smile! This, dear friends, is huge part of discovering more about personal gifts, whatever they may be at any level.
I’m certainly not suggesting you will suddenly become clairvoyant or see Spirit. I am suggesting you may experience a new way of thinking in time, a more sensitive nature allowing less stress, and perhaps even a physical change as you relax in doing these things. By doing this with an open mind and a level of spirituality just a notch above what you may have now, you will find one that suits you best and will have much success in your meditation moments, no matter how long. It’s time to do for you, and in turn, these results will reflect on others.
May this bring you a new and happy journey along your life’s path, dear friends. I leave you with this Native American quote:
“I do not think the measure of a civilization
is how tall its buildings of concrete are,
But rather how well its people have learned to relate
to their environment and fellow man.”
