This month we will be exploring the subject of colour and how it assists to bring about harmony and balance in our lives.

Colour has a major impact on our health. It has been used for centuries to restore balance and improve overall health and well-being. We need a balance of all the colour vibrations in order to nourish our energy systems. Too much of one specific colour vibration within our system will make us feel ‘off colour,’ and the balance of the energy will need to be redressed. The ancient Egyptians used colour in order to treat illness; they believed that the healing energies of natural colours could be harnessed to restore health and well-being. As part of this they created ‘colour halls’, these were large rooms painted in specific colours in which patients spent time in order to treat their conditions. They sometimes also hung specific crystals within these rooms, so that when the sun’s rays fell upon them the healing properties of the spectrum of colours that emitted from them would benefit all those within the room. In 1810, the German artist, poet and politician, Johann Wolfgang Goethe published ‘The Theory of Colour.’ Within this book he described the findings of a study he had conducted into the physiological effects of colour. Goethe divided colours into two main groups. The first group consisting of red, orange and yellow were thought to cause happiness. The second group consisting of green, blue, indigo and violet were thought to cause sadness. The effects of colour on our moods can be quite profound, some colours can calm our minds whilst others will stimulate mental activity. Light enters our body via our eyes and travels to the pituitary gland which is the master gland of the endocrine system. This then affects our metabolism; it also triggers the body’s ability to produce the hormones needed in order for us to feel wide awake. If we do not receive enough sunlight we may feel lethargic, experience disrupted sleep patterns, depression, nausea and mood swings. This can result in a recognised disorder known as SAD’s or Seasonal Affective Disorder. Some crystals that may assist with supporting anyone suffering from SAD’s through connecting and utilising their energies are: Honey Calcite, Citrine, Carnelian & Orange Calcite. Our chakra systems correspond to specific colours; the 7 main chakra’s are believed to be as follows:
- Crown Chakra – Indigo
- Third Eye Chakra – Purple
- Throat Chakra – Blue
- Heart Chakra – Green or Pink
- Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow
- Sacral Chakra – Orange
- Base Chakra – Red
- Crown Chakra – Lilac/white
- Third Eye Chakra – Purple
- Throat Chakra – Cerulean blue/Turquoise
- Heart Chakra – shimmery mint or bright green, pale pink or bright pink
- Solar Plexus Chakra – Yellow or lemon
- Sacral Chakra – Orange
- Base Chakra – shimmery almost translucent Red
- To begin, relax and ground yourself by sending little golden roots deep in to the earth. Bring fresh energy up these roots and into your feet and let it flow up in to your body and through your energy centres.
- Imagine a column of light above your head and visualise it flowing in through your crown chakra and down through all of your other chakras and connecting you to the earth below.
- Sit quietly and see a shimmering path start to unfold before you.
- A large Angelic being appears and beckons you to step onto the path and walk beside them. Step onto the path, knowing that you are safe and walk along beside the Angel.
- Ahead of you, in a clearing you see a very large lotus flower growing in a small pond.
- As you draw nearer you notice its beautiful vibrant colours and how it glistens as the light falls on it.
- The angelic being tells you to gently step inside the large lotus flower and sit down and assists you to do this.
- Now you are sat in the middle of the lotus flower, take a couple of deep breaths and centre yourself. You feel relaxed and peaceful.
- A large light being appears in front of you and explains that the lotus flower will impart healing to you in the form of colour in order to balance and align your entire energy system.
- As the light being speaks you notice ribbons of colour start to gently unfold from the lotus flower below you and ascend within your Aura.
- Observe how the ribbons of colour are translucent but contain pigments of colours within them that shimmer in the light.
- The ribbons of colour wind upwards until they reach above your crown chakra. Once here, they all join together.
- A shower of shimmering rainbow coloured droplets starts to pour from the point at which they have all joined together and falls all around and within you.
- These droplets wash away any negativity around you and work to restore balance and harmony.
- Sit gently absorbing the energies for a short while.
- Next, you hear the light being tell you that the rainbow light shower has stopped. They tell you that next, if you wish, you may ask the lotus flower to bring a vortex of colour all around you that is specific to your needs. This coloured vortex will support you to release something that no longer serves your highest good and will replenish and balance your energies after.
- If you have asked for this to take place, you will start to see a coloured spiral of energy start to descend around you. You feel grounded, safe, calm and supported.
- When you are ready, release into the vortex of coloured energy, that which you are ready to let go. Feel fresh energies replace the released energy and spread through your system invigorating it and balancing the energies again.
- The Angelic being steps forward and gently drops the energy vortex to the base of the lotus flower and into the ground. It also then touches your feet and grounds your energy again.
- Now you are ready to return and the Angelic Being assists you to step back on to the path.
- Walk back and come back in to the room again with the Angelic Being.
- Wiggle your fingers and toes and ground your energies. Gently open your eyes.
