In the Dreamtime. This month’s column deals with connecting with loved ones who have crossed over to the other side, a little animal symbolism, and how one dream can have several meanings.
Question I have very vivid dreams with deceased loved ones. They are very real. Is it a dream or a visitation? How can you tell?Answer This is a question I get asked a lot. My feeling is the majority of your dreams are visitations. The fact that you mention that they are very real to you is a sign that you really feel it. Granted, we feel in all dreams, but not all dreams feel so real. There are a couple of ways to tell if it is real. Feelings are important to differentiate if it is real or not. A great example is if the emotion of love is very beautiful and intense that has never been felt before in waking or dream state. I personally have experienced it, words cannot describe this wondrous love. The feeling of peace and reassurance is another sign that the dream was real. Many of my clients have said that the night or few days after a loved one had passed they were visited by them, often to let them know they were OK and ready to move on. My cat, Midnite, did this. It does not have to be a recent departure for one who has crossed to the other side to come for a visit to give you peace and reassurance. If you are having trouble letting them go or another issue in your life, your deceased loved one may come to help you. Another way to know that it was a visitation is it felt like they came by to say hello and to have a conversation, or to simply hang out with you. There is NOT much action. Many times upon awakening, you will forget the conversation. A personal example is when I was my twenties, I dreamed of my friend, Winnie, who had been killed in a car accident three years beforehand. She was on my back porch and said my nickname and hello. That was it, but I knew in my heart that it was real upon waking. Sometimes, your loved ones may use a symbolic dream to get a message to you. Most of these dreams are very short. They may have trouble using words and it is easier for them to use a symbol. An important fact to know is that those who have crossed over have a much higher frequency than those who reside in the physical. We need to be at a much lower vibration in order to remain in a solid form. When we are in the sleep/dream state, our vibration raises up and it is easier for those in the higher realms to interact with us. The way to tell that it is not a visitation is the dream flashes from one scene to another scene, or many scenes. The dream has a ton of symbolism, makes very little sense, and/or is totally wacky. You could also dream of a past event that brings up a lot of unresolved feelings with your departed one. That is a sign that there are issues you need to work on and let go. Another way to know is the dream feels like a normal dream. There is a different feeling when you have a visitation that is hard to describe. It is a knowing that it was more than a dream. I hope that helps.
Dream I dreamt there was a tiger. I hugged and loved on him and he was always with me. Then this morning, I got my kids off to school and went back to bed. In my next dream, I got a text message the same time as my husband got a call stating a friend committed suicide. In my text message it read – He took his life because of his wife. In real life this friend ended up in a mental hospital years ago when his wife divorced him. What does this dream mean?Interpretation The tiger symbolizes the strength in you, the cat like nature within you. Tigers are strong, independent, loyal and protective of their family, good hunters and fighters, and know how to survive. The tiger is either your totem or a totem that you need right now. I felt guided by my guides to look in my pocket guide of Animal – Speaks by Ted Andrews. This is his symbolism of tigers – (power) Assert your power in new endeavors. New adventures will bring opportunity to express power and passion. The symbolism of your next dream regarding the text is a message of abrupt endings. It could be with a family member or a situation in your life. I get the feeling it could also mean the way someone is behaving will change. Whatever it is, please know that you will get through it with your Tiger Spirit. Finally, I would like to add that it could literally mean that your friend is having suicidal thoughts. Dreams often have many interpretations to choose from. The person who had the dream is often the best one to determine which one is correct. So, please, keep an eye out for your friend – better safe than sorry. My guides are playing a song in my head for all my readers, “Dream On,” by Aerosmith. So keep a pen and paper by your bed to journal your dreams to record them.
