In the Dreamtime – Deceased Grandfather, Floods, and Werewolves Happy October! This month In the Dreamtime readers sent in their dreams about a deceased Grandfather, flooding, and even werewolves. Please read on to find out what in the world these dreams mean. Dream My Grandfather who has now passed, appeared in a recent dream. I can’t figure it out, and would love some input. I dreamt that I was giving a large state exam to a cafeteria full of students. I noticed him while I was picking up test papers and checking that each student had completed the exam. When I noticed him, finished with his test, I said to myself “I need to go over and check in on him.” When I looked up again, he was gone. He has appeared to me when I was dreaming before, but always talks with me. This was different. Interpretation Thank you for your interesting dream. I have two interpretations for your dream. The first is a visitation dream. Your Grandfather is letting you know that he is with you during your day to day living and when you are being tested. This way you know you are never alone. The second interpretation is that you feel some guilt or unresolved issues with the relationship you had with your Grandfather. Perhaps you didn’t spend enough time with him while he was alive. Or you were not with him at the end. The giving exam means that you were busy giving (and receiving) lessons to other people. The dream was set in a cafeteria, which represents being fed with knowledge that needs to sustain you. Because you were so busy in life activities and lessons you missed out on some things with your Grandfather. You will know which interpretation is right, perhaps it is both. Your Grandfather is letting me know that “All is well.” That means all is well with the relationship you two had and all is well where he is at. He is letting me know he is happy and is proud of you. Dream I dreamed that I was reading a Facebook post from my best friend in Massena, NY (where I am heading on tour next month). Her post stated something like “Sitting here on the roof watching the flood wall heading toward us.” Although alarming, I chuckled at her humorous way of looking at things. Next thing I know, I am seeing an image of the last of the roof tops being swallowed by the muddy waters of the St. Lawrence River. Interpretation This could literally be a warning dream, which I hope it is not! But since you laughed at it that could symbolize it is not serious. Another meaning could be that she is very overwhelmed with emotion. Or she has a lot going on. The last meaning that this dream could mean is she is going through a major cleansing. The dream may also be symbolic of your friendship and the changes that have occurred. The second scene of the dream could mean upcoming changes in the town, because the water is dirty the changes may not be good. Or there could be problems with the water. The symbolism of this part of the dream could also be more personal. The water swallowing the rooftops could be your feelings about the town. Water is symbolic for emotions and dirty water would stand for negative feelings, like grief or anger. I would suggest looking within to see how you feel about the town you no longer live in. Dream I used to have recurring dreams of werewolves. Friends or family members would turn into werewolves. Interpretation This is not much to go on but I will give my interpretation. Recurring dreams happen because there is something that we need to look at. You mentioned the words “used to” therefore I am wondering if you worked through the issues. When I think of werewolves the symbolism that comes up is dangerous, deceitful, unstable, two faced, and changes in appearance and behaviors. You may not have felt very safe with some friends or family members. Or perhaps the symbolism I described were really parts of you. My advice for you is to think back on what was going on in your life during those times. If you ever have the same style of dream, please look at what is happening in your life and your relationship with the person who changes into a werewolf.
