What is the Dream Symbolism of Pocketbooks, a Husband, and an Ex-Husband? In this month’s In the Dreamtime a reader sent in two dreams about pocketbooks, her current husband and ex-husband. These recurring dreams with similar symbolism are to help the dreamer look within to discover what she desires and to help make positive changes in her life. Dream
I had two dreams about pocketbooks. Here is the first one: I kept leaving my pocketbook everywhere and then my diamond fell out of my ring. (I had been wearing an opal ring that day that was loose in its setting) I had a doctor’s type bag with handles, no shoulder strap, and I kept totally forgetting to bring it. I would find it every time I looked for it, but that wasn’t good enough. It was a bag that I never had. So then I got a small one and kept the receipt for it. I bought the pocketbook really quick, it was gray, thought I would take the time and replace it later with a bag that I really liked. The pocketbook had a strap, it was small, and it was close to my body. The diamond fell out of the ring my husband gave me and I put it in the wallet in that pocketbook.Interpretation In general pocketbooks symbolize valuables and treasures because that is what it holds, it is also a representation of you. The doctor type bag can mean mainstream, health, or luggage (issues). The fact that you kept… interrupted by U2 song, “But I still haven’t found what I’m looking for.” So you keep on losing it, finding it, but it’s not what you really want. That could be in regards to your job or living the so-called American dream. What is currently going on in your life is okay, but it’s not good enough. The new bag represents something new and more suitable for you. The purse works better and the strap made it easier for you to maneuver it, even if it was smaller. The fact that it was close to your body could represent – feeling safer, wanting to keep your valuables aka “The valuable part of you” close to you, or this is close to who you are. The other thing the new bag could symbolize is a transition into something more in line with you. This temporary phase of life is better, but you desire something more. You kept the receipt because the pocketbook is valuable, yet you may exchange it for something different in the future. The interesting part is the color gray because what I got is that nothing is black or white, but in the middle – gray. Again, the pocketbooks represent wanting change into something more in line with you, whether that is a job or something more fulfilling in your life. The other thing the dream could represent is your marriage. Part of your dream sounds like an environment dream because of the loose setting on your opal ring. Although, the diamond ring falling out of its setting could represent your feeling that the marriage is out of place. The fact that you put the diamond in your wallet shows how important your marriage is to you because a wallet represents not only values – but your identity. Dream
Here is my second dream: I had a brown, hobo bag with studs on it and I put it somewhere and then couldn’t find it. My ex-husband was around and I found it once, but then couldn’t find it again. There were brown hobo bags everywhere in different styles and when I was looking for mine I would think I found it, get really happy, but upon looking closer I would realize it’s not mine. InterpretationThe brown hobo bags represent who you used to be. Your ex-husband at one time was your “Bag” and valuable to you, but that is gone now, and you will never find it with him again. The other bags symbolize parts of who you are or outer things that represent your life. You find something that makes you happy, but it is only temporary because it is not truly who or what you are. Interpretation of Both Dreams Combined Again, I’m hearing that song – Still haven’t found what I’m looking for. This could be finding contentment within your marriage because of the diamond falling out of the ring and your ex being in your second dream, or your career or spiritual path. The main theme of these dreams is finding what is valuable to you because you keep losing it. I would suggest that you look within to what is truly a treasure about who you are and what you desire to do and be in your life. Now, I’m hearing a play on a Steve Miller song – look into the mirror, tell me what do you see, a beautiful lady, peace and harmony. My guides said, “Goals,” while I got a vision of you writing in a journal. Now they said, “Look within.” These dreams are signaling to look within and bring forth your true value to change your outer to what you deserve in life. Before you say, hmm or roll your eyes (giggle), the guides are saying – it’s a process. Views:]]>
