Putting the Spirit back in Spiritualism. Giving it straight from Spirit and shining light on the myths and misnomers.
Spirit Communication takes all sorts of skills and awareness; trust, focus, dedication and simplicity are just a few. As I continue writing on this topic, you will find I have a very ‘natural’ outlook on working with Spirit.
I don’t need rituals or routines, but simply remembering what my Grandfather Guide told me years ago, “Julie, you did not need meditations or protections, rituals or such things to communicate with me when a child nor later, so why now?” He asked when I started using them after being instructed to by development Teachers. Notice I mentioned ‘skills and awareness,’ not ‘gifts’ as I believe it is our own abilities and skills in attuning them and working with them that allows the development of intuitive, psychic, healing and mediumship.
Churches and Development Groups will have us go through all sorts of jumping through hoops to do what is the most natural thing going… to talk to loved ones.
Many people try so hard that they miss the simple signs and signals we all get daily in our lives from those who have passed over.
So I wish to begin my Column with these points on what I have termed The Keys to Communication. These are the simple things we get in Spirit Messages and daily life via synchronistic events, deja vu, words shared from friends or a song heard, that show us what Loved ones wish to communicate. Not all Mediumship comes through in outright conversations, but in images, symbolism, music, art, and many more things. We have to be able to recognise and understand these methods of communication.
Spirit Communication Recognition
Keys we feel, sense, hear, see, etc. within the messages and links with spirit.
All of us, of course, develop our own keys as all workers are on different vibrations, and Spirit works with each Medium in their own way.
First are the initial link keys which tells us it is spirit working and it’s not, as many fear or think, our own imagination or feelings. These can range from the tingles down the spine to the heat of the hands. Or a sense of a presence around us from a cold sensation or seeing a light. The main thing to remember is that it is Spirit who calls us and not us who call them. We can ask till we’re blue in the face, but if they don’t want to or are not ready to answer, they won’t.
Sudden or unexpected feelings, senses and such can be from Spirit when all other things, a draft or open door or such is not present.
We intuitively just know sometimes that it is not our doing. As you work more and more, the keys are an auto response thing you will get to know and recognize immediately. Working regularly with spirit friends/guides etc. can heighten the awareness of these Keys, i.e. in meditation and similar activities. Asking friends from Spirit is the easiest way to associate certain feelings with the different Spirits and Guides, remember communication is a two-way track, a two-way conversation.
Just as you can differentiate or recognise a loved one joining a crowded room, or when truths are told – it hits home with you, or when lies are spouted – you just know it does not ring true.
Then we come to the keys of messages, symbols of items, sights, or smells etc. that are not in the messages, but point to other things.
Most important is the recognition of who is communicating; Guides, family, friends or others. This is shown in how or where they come to you. For me, Guides and children approach directly in front of me, or from behind if I’m getting instruction or told off! Family and friends approach from either side, depending on whether they are male or female; left for female (women wear their wedding ring on the ‘third finger left hand’ as the song goes. Men approach from the right, as the Son sits on the right hand of God. Knowing these simple things can save time in messages and Spirit work.
A symbol of a ring can mean a wedding (obvious) or togetherness like a married couple, or even a circular effect of an event. The cycle of life or issues are taking you around and around in circles.
The rainbow not only means fair-weather or a financial change of circumstances but the colours within can be seen and read as part of the message.
Also as Keys are such things as visualizations, seeing a holiday scene shown as a memory, a ship can be a cruise or sea journey, animals come through showing themselves or simply a breed of their species, or a date as a remembrance of a birthday or anniversary. These are often given, involving a message alongside it.
Numbers can mean a date, month or year, age or even house number, or perhaps weeks, months, or years since passing, or life events brought in the messages.
In closing messages from Spirit there are keys to know such as the feeling of pulling back their energy, saying they are leaving, and the items or symbols of love one would send to loved ones which can be their favourite flower, no message with it but just that flower that the recipient would associate with that spirit.
Songs: whether they are heard or the title is just seen, are also a key to part of a message, again linking something to do with either the title or the meaning or association with that song.
The obvious symbols of crosses, prayer beads etc. denote a religious link or love of the bible, or maybe even a link to a specific Church or Religion within the family.
Getting to know these and many other Keys as what Spirit have shared are, as they work with me, an important part of Spirit communication and in knowing you have Spirit with you. It also takes the personal out of interpreting messages because it comes from Spirit and they will soon let you know if you are giving the wrong meaning to the images, signs, symbols etc.
Whether in actual communication, dreams, trance, meditation, or any personal communication, or in a session of work, these Keys can be invaluable in giving evidence personal to the recipient and or self.
So when you are training to work in your self-development, intuition, psychic or mediumship, and yes, in healing work, learn to recognise your Keys to Communication. It’s as invaluable as your social interaction and knowing how to handle various life situations.
I value your feedback and thoughts on this article. Please excuse me if I cannot immediately respond, but I will endeavour to do so and answer any questions. My passion is in teaching the natural abilities we can all work with and develop as part of what I see that Spiritualism is… a way of life!
