Limiting Our Communities
Forgive me, as I might seem to be rambling, but it does reach a pentacle. So bear with me a while.
It is easy to put around ourselves a community of other beings who are consciously working on the following and growing of their spiritual selves in a manner similar to what we are doing. We can shield ourselves from the world with other people who believe one can become enlightened or an ascended being. We might take to another path where we consider the structure of the universe and the laws of physics and matter, yes, even those of spirit can be a path of its own. There are other paths we can choose to walk, or even blends of paths that we can find as a supportive environment to define ourselves within.
We begin to think that we are in a group of free thinkers, scientific thinkers, or magickal thinkers who are the most intuited group of individuals one has ever met. The natural tendency is to think that there is an ‘us’ against them situation and indeed, with many, people are feeling the same way about their own support groups and through such beliefs, walls between groups arise.
Limitation by Self-fulfillment
Most of what we can see or accomplish on any of these paths are reflected in our own self-imposed limitations and the inclusive inner harmony. In psychology, they teach about the “self-fulfilling prophecy” where we subconsciously set out to accomplish the desired outcome because it is what we expect. It is a version of ‘rose colored glasses’ through which we look at the world. It turns out that not only do we see the world through those glasses, but those glasses project onto others and may very well reflect in the actions of not only other people, but in the material world. Yes, time and time again, the observer effect of physics has been shown at the smallest of physical particles. Does it really work on large masses of matter? Can we really mentally make a baked potato out of thin air? If we could, we would never see a starving person, as he would will himself that baked potato. This is not to say we cannot influence the stream of abundance, but at the current time, we don’t yet know how to transmute matter from one form to another.
Magickal Thinking
Magickal thinking is a stage of life we all go through about the age of 5 to 6 years old. The five year old girl who gathers a pile of cut grass on the playground so that she can attract a pony is not influenced by the fact that the wind blew away the pile of grass. It was her pony making a visit that removed the pile. We can explain the situation rationally all day long to that girl and while she will claim to understand, once away from those giving the rational and logical explanation, she will express her opinion that it was the pony.
Later in life, magical thinking is just a wish or a hope. We all learn we cannot move the physical mountain from our path by just wishing it away, but such wishing may serve as a catalyst towards our influencing others that a road needs to be built on that mountain. We may become a radio personality because we do the things that actually take us to our dreams.
Magick is Fundamental
It was getting late one day, but I felt I had time to work on a wood working project. There appeared to be plenty of light and time, so I went to work on the project. I did not have a work light, save for a lamp in which one of the elements was broken, so I knew I needed to get the cuts done quickly. The project was going well until a cloud obscured the light coming in through the windows. I was in the middle of a cut on a long piece of plywood which took up most of the free space in my shop. It was easy to see the possible kick back injury if I stopped at this moment. My wife, who had just stepped into the other end of the shop, was blocked from reaching the lamp. In my mind, and while making a pinching movement with my fingers, I envisioned the element touching and there was suddenly light. My wife witnessed this event which is one of the reasons I share it now. In most such events, I have not been fortunate enough to have had witnesses that it happened. Now, it may have been the vibration of the saw, even though the lamp was on another table, or any number of other natural explanations, but the fact remains, that lamp came on with only magickal thinking at just the right time. It was not the only such occurrence in my life.
Be Careful What You Wish For
The road was lengthy on the way to the Council of Magickal Arts. My vision is pretty good at night, so I became the driver of the van in which the 5 of us were traveling. It was a moonless night and the sky was cloudless. We were driving though a swarm of small insects and the windows were getting pretty messy, but I had been driving for a while and just did not feel like stopping and cleaning them. Rose, my teacher, awoke and she asked what the problem was. Now, how she knew there was a problem when awaking from a sleep is another question. Anyway, I said I wish it would sprinkle just enough to clean the windows so I would not have to stop to clean them. She asked, “Are you sure that is what you want?” Of course it was, and therefore she stated, “Well, make it happen.” I chucked to myself, but an instant later I noticed over the next rolling hill a flash of lightening. It was not 10 minutes and we were traveling in a gentle sprinkle. The windows were clean, but it sprinkled all that weekend. The odd thing was, the encampment at Dripping Springs was large and when we arrived it was sprinkling all over, but later in the day, it was sprinkling only on the side where the van was parked. It did that all weekend. It did not stop sprinkling on the van until we left and got at approximately the same spot where the sprinkling started.
I cannot repeat one of the times in my life that such events have happened for me. Any attempt to set up the conditions artificially meet with failure. So there goes the scientific method and yet, I have lived through them. I have saved life and limb many a time. Positive and wishful thinking are fundamental to who I am and yet rationally, there has to be a wind blowing the pony’s grass away.
How Does Fundamental Magick and Life Function Together?
I was attending my business classes with absolutely no idea how I was going to apply them. I knew I had agreed to these classes under the condition that I would use the skills gained to help in drug and alcohol counseling. Now, in Texas, such counseling can be done only by someone who has a counseling degree, or as a minister. I wasn’t going to get a master’s degree from this class so that was out. I thought I would get the business degree and see if I could get a job in a counseling center, but I am also a minister. Somehow, I would meet my obligation.
I went up to my appointment at the doctors at the V.A. There, I found a booklet that described a number of the programs of the V.A. In it, I found a homeless program that stood out like a beacon. I thought it was because literally, I am one illness or one bad incident away from being homeless myself. Yet, later that day, I went home, and in one of those random searches on the Internet, came across the tiny home concept. I put the two together mentally in a method to help the homeless permanently and then shared the concept with Frank Fudge and LynAnne Moon – to a resounding, “Let’s do it.”
When we started considering our life experiences, we are uniquely qualified as people with various technical, trade and business backgrounds to put such an organization together and make it work. We are all also concerned that the majority of monies used in the endeavor go directly to the services for the clients and not into the pockets of those running the organization.
Between us, we did not have the monies for the fees to get our 501C3 and to pay for the state fees on establishing a non-profit LLC in Texas. We had enough for one, but not the other. The only way we could establish this organization was to tell others essentially the details of what we are expecting to do.
Magick Works Best When Given Away
Our 501C3 goes out for approval this week thanks to many generous people. We are envisioning many offshoots from the main purpose as we can afford to do so. Even though it is not fully functional, it is already having an effect.
I met Charles a hot July night outside of the Walgreens. He was begging for money for beer. When I did not walk away he became quite lively in his discussion. He is a vet who got injured in the first Gulf conflict. I think it startled him that I stopped and talked with him.
I told him about the plans for HOPE RC. He said he could build a castle if he had the tools. When I told him that we would allow well behaved pets, he began to cry and asked if I would remember him when we are ready.
As many employers avoid the 30 hour full time work week, we are going to see more and more working homeless help us make homes, albeit tiny, affordable.
It takes about nine thousand dollars to build the first of these houses. Even though the work will be by our hands and the hands of our clients, it will be magical and transformational. We plan on educating those who go through our program and either help them get a job, or help them start a business with micro-loans for equipment.
I realize that most of our monies will have to come from larger corporate sponsors, but we need the monies to be able to afford to communicate with those sponsors.
Why the Fancy Title?
There is no confusion about the title and the degree associated with my name below the title. I could have kept going a little while longer as I have just finished yet another degree. It is enough to say, I have juxtaposition these particular titles near my name to state that a spiritual system and a comprehensive scientific system are not diametrically opposed. In fact, I hope, as does Warren E. York, that research in zero point energy will show that the human mind is equipped at least at a basic level to tap into such energies and it is through those energies that magicks and psychics work. But until then, the work of our hands and minds should reflect the divine light within. Thinking of doing some magick? How about making it fundamental and in its own way magickal? If you cannot volunteer time, then a few dollars will go a long way.
