The Modern Photographic Black and White Deck When you think of tarot readers, do you imagine an old woman with a scarf on her head, hooped earrings, and a scary looking pack of cards in front of her? Most people do. For years, the idea of having a tarot reading has quite frankly scared the living daylights out of a lot of us and going by some people’s experiences, quite rightly so. I am the author of The Faulkner Tarot Deck, and I want to show you that used in the correct manner, the tarot can be a modern form of counselling and a tool for self help in all situations in life. I created a modern photographic deck, using images of everyday life that we can all relate to, such as the stresses in the office, the happy moments in our love life, and even photos showing how we struggle with money. This deck is being used worldwide by new and experienced readers alike. Having removed the traditional scary images of swords being stabbed into the backs of people, kings and queens sitting on the strangest of thrones and the frightening images of people jumping for their lives from a burning tower, we can now see how these cards actually refer to situations in our normal lives. The tarot is a tool for you to receive messages from spirit. If you can’t yet hear or see your guides, this is a way that they can prompt you to say and see what advice they are trying to give you. Always let the pictures talk to you – I can give 7 or 8 readings in a row and the same cards come out, yet I am prompted by my guide, Brian, to notice a different aspect of the photograph. Let’s take the first card in the deck as an example – The Fool. The meaning for this card is a new beginning. It could be related to your love life, – a new romance, or a new job, depending on what question you asked the cards to answer. It signifies a new chapter starting – but we need to look closely at the picture to see if we will be happy with this and whether it is the right thing for us to do. This is where the magic in the cards kick in! What jumps out of the picture as you study it, thinking of your new start? Is it the bright blue sky or the rainbow? This would signify to me that it is going to be absolutely fantastic and you would be mad not to go for it. But, what happens if you are drawn to the large black island in the middle of the water? I would now say that maybe the new chapter or offer of a job is not right for you. It is not going to be as good as you first thought. Pull another card and place it next to this one. This next card tells us even more detail about the situation. The Star Card! This is the wish card in the major arcana. It means all your dreams are coming true and a happy message of promise. It is also the card of recovery so an all round wonderful card to have in your reading. This is now telling us that the new beginning/new offer in our life is going to be fantastic and we should go for it! Reading the tarot should always be done with good intention. Remember to be a professional and accurate reader you need to work with love and light at all times. Light a candle, say a little prayer, and ask for true guidance from above before you start. I never use reverse meanings, remember the Faulkner Tarot is the modern non-scary way of bringing the tarot into the 21st century – so we only like to give positive guidance. Reverse meanings scare the living daylight out of people and we don’t want to do that. Yes, we can predict negative situations and times of hardship – but look at every situation in life from a positive view, giving hope and promise to people having a hard time. Even in the darkest moments of our lives there is always a way of rebuilding and starting again.]]>
