Has anyone told you that you were looking at the world through Rose Colored Glasses? Have you ever been put down for being optimistic about something? Have you ever chosen to keep looking at the world your way, even when others chose something different?
It is interesting to me how this phrase “looking at the world through rose colored glasses” became something negative. It has often been used to describe someone that is not living in the “real world,” or are they? It has often been used as a means of basically telling someone that they are not smart because of how they are looking at things.
Just the other day I was at Dollar Tree picking up a couple of things and there they were those wonderful, playful, heart-shaped rose colored glasses. Of course, it had my mind ticking about how many people have told me that in my life, implying I wasn’t seeing things realistically and that I was being naive. However, after my time here in Sioux Falls, they became what Spinach was for Popeye to me.
Rose colored glasses can go a lot of different directions in life. Sometimes we put them on because we don’t like what we are seeing; a means to escape, avoid, or deny something that is happening in life. Most likely this is where the phrase originated from that gave it a negative connotation.
However, it can also be the person that refuses to live by the programming, refuses to have their dreams dashed, and refuses to focus on the negativity of the world. Keep in mind that just because someone doesn’t want to focus on hate and anger and competition or unpleasant experiences, doesn’t mean that they are choosing to be ignorant to what is happening. Actually, these are the wise souls that are trying to help us remember our light within; to keep the faith, and to be the change.
Change doesn’t happen from hate and anger, but from love. Many times, the person wearing the rose colored glasses is the one consciously choosing what they are going to focus on and give their attention to. Usually, it is the person that says to themselves, ‘I could let this situation or person or thing ruin my day and make me feel bad, but instead I am going to hold joy in my heart and focus on something else.’
You see, when used to stand in compassion for self and others, instead of out of avoidance, these glasses become really powerful. As we know, Pink is one of the heart centered colors. To look at things through rose colored glasses is to see things through the heart and with love. It is not about avoiding the pain or lessons of what is at hand, it is about being a master alchemist.
The codes of Rose Colored Glasses share numerous components with us. First, a rose or the color rose, is about connecting with our immortal self, love, and peace. Seeing things that are colored or through something colored is about not allowing the material world and programming to rule us, but to have the strength to walk our own path in our own authenticity. Finally, glasses are about creating success from wisdom, turning a potentially devastating situation into something incredible and transformational.
So, putting this chain together, we are standing in our immortal self of love and peace in order to walk our own path uninfluenced or dictated to by material world standards, authentically creating success from wise choices. When the energy blends and mixes together, it places us in a position to be heard, to turn things around, to be magnetic. Yes, there might be a little drama involved, but you are favored to walk your own path and can eloquently face any of the challenges that show up. It is choosing to listen to the music you like, instead of something that someone else wants you to listen to.
So, the next time someone tells you that you are looking at the world through rose colored glasses say “why, thank-you.” You will know you are in alignment with your immortal self and you are walking a path of peace and love. You will know that you are handling a situation with grace and authenticity. You will know that you are being true to yourself, your true self that is.
As for me, I am thinking I should go back and get those glasses, just for the fun of it. Keeping a pair with me when people start talking hateful could be really useful for keeping me where I want to be. Imagine the tension it could break when someone starts talking trash and I pull them out and put them on.
Even if we don’t take it literally, it is worth doing energetically. So join me and put on your rose colored glasses. Step into your authenticity and choose to be in a world that you love.
Will you start wearing these glasses more often? How can you use this to turn things around in all areas of your life? What differences have you seen for yourself and others by looking at the world through rose colored glasses?
