That’s right, there is a new technology that will allow you to have real-time information about your skin, such as your skin’s moisture level, right on your mobile device.
In a recent survey 83% of women stated they would like to know what their skin really needs so they could get a more efficient routine.
Here is a product, MAPO, which suggests it can do just that. It is the first connected beauty mask. It contains digital sensors that scan your face, factoring in the environment and physiology. Oh, but there’s more! The app will also provide you with tailored product recommendations. The manufacturer, Wired Beauty, is not connected to any beauty product brands.
Here’s how it works:
- Fast & Simple
In less than 1 minute you can check-up your skin whenever you like using technology and biology.
- Custom
Specialized sensors are strategically located on a soft medical silicone 3D face mask for a quick scan. The digital information collected provides a tailored solution.
- Multi-function
MAPO can measure your skin’s moisture and adjust your skincare moisturizing effect.
The app will analyze and compare the user’s information.
Seaweed for All Skin Types
Seaweed includes a variety of remarkable marine plants that have so many health benefits for the skin and body. Some of the more commonly known types of seaweed include brown (wakame, bladderwrack, kelp, and arame), green (chlorella) and blue-green algae (spirulina).
Brown seaweed has high concentrations of a pigment called fucoxanthin which has an anti-aging effect and has been found to improve skin elasticity and collagen production. There was a clinical study that showed fucoxanthin gel applied to the skin twice a day for 5 weeks, actually reduced skin thickness, and improved elasticity. Topical application delivers essential nutrients such as zinc, selenium and vitamins A and C directly to the skin.
People prone to acne may benefit from carbohydrates called oligosaccharides that are also found in brown seaweed; they help to reduce sebum production. Another ingredient in this seaweed is luminaria, a polysaccharide that improves circulation and the appearance of the skin. There is anti-inflammatory and UV ray protection, plus seaweed has a super moisturizing action on the skin.
Wakame seaweed helps to brighten skin without the toxic side effects of hydroquinone that is used in skin lightening creams.

Grape Seed Oil
We keep seeing grape seed oil used in skin care recipes yet many don’t really know much about this super rich skin oil.
This oil is light textured oil extracted from the seeds of grapes, usually wine grapes. It is rich in flavonoids, vitamins E and C, and OPCs (oligomeric proanthocyanidin complexes), making it a great addition to your anti-aging beauty regime. OPCs are highly effective antioxidants that help maintain healthy collagen and elastin levels, the two main proteins in the skin.
Grape seed naturally contains linolenic acid, important for the health of skin and cell membrane integrity. This amazing oil is beneficial in wound healing which makes it useful for treating eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis, as well as dry and itchy skin.
Try this Grapeseed eye cream recommended for mature skin to prevent and soften fine lines and wrinkles:
3 tsp. grape seed oil
1 ½ tsp. beeswax pastilles
3 tsp apricot kernel oil
½ tsp. carrot seed oil
4 tsp. rose water
- Combine grapeseed oil, beeswax, apricot and rosehip oil in a glass jar and place in a pan with warm water over low heat. Stir gently until wax melts.
- Take the jar off the heat and mix in remaining ingredients.
- Store in smaller jars and place in the fridge to set.
- Use under the eyes morning and night after cleansing.
Caring for Baby’s Skin
A newborn baby is born with wrinkly skin and a covering called vernix, unless the birth is after the due date. During the first week of life the vernix naturally peels off. You don’t have to rub it, or treat it with creams or lotions.
Bathing babies too often can lead to skin problems later in life the same as too much exposure to chemicals and other allergens. Frequent bathing removes the natural oils that protect the baby’s skin. Actually, it is not advisable to use baby products during the early months to protect the immune system. Remember, newborn
skin is soft and sensitive. Keep baby’s skin hydrated by bathing in warm water for only three to five minutes. Avoid letting your baby sit, play, or soak for long in soapy water.
Use a Humidifier for Hydrated Skin
Cold, dry winter air strips your skin of essential moisture. You need to keep it from becoming parched and weathered when temperatures drop. It actually ages faster than it would in balmy climates in those colder climates. A humidifier helps support hydrated skin year-round.
Why Line Just Half An Eye?
The reasons you would only line half an eye have to do with eye shape and the effect that you want to create. Round eyes and or hooded lids benefit most from the half-liner trick because it makes the eyes appear more almond shaped.
As for the effect, not only does it look more modern, it also creates the illusion of wider eyes. This is a really good technique to draw attention away from the nose and create a doe-eyed look. Just make sure to keep the line thinner at the inner corners and a little thicker at the outer corners, angling the line up toward the top of your ear. It’s more flattering that way.
Harmful Chemicals in Skin Care
Perfumes, deodorants, hair dye, nail polish, moisturizers and cleansers all commonly contain chemicals that are toxic. When they circulate around the body they can cause damage to the cells.
The skin absorbs 60% of chemicals found in skin products, which go directly into the bloodstream. This is why many experts continually advise that if a product isn’t safe to eat we shouldn’t put it on our skin.
