Enhance Your Look with Liquid Eyeliner Makeup Tips
Once you select the perfect eyeliner you will need to choose the best application style tips. Choose either a felt tip or dip-brush type.
- Felt tip eyeliner is similar to a marker with the liner being fed through like a pen.
- Dip-brush eyeliner is similar to a nail polish with a brush that you have to dip.
To prepare your eyelids apply a primer to your lids, then your shadow before you begin with the eyeliner. This is one of those things that many people do not do, yet you will find following these steps will ensure a smoother application and a flawless look. Don’t we all want that!
You need to have a steady hand to begin, otherwise you will have a wavy line. If you rest your elbow on a table and your hand against your cheek this will help keep you steady. Sometimes it is very helpful if you can hold a small mirror in your other hand so that you can closely observe your application.
To begin, draw a series of dots or dashes along your eyelid with spacing between the dots. Now slowly connect your marks using small, short strokes. Don’t try to connect all of your marks with a single sweep of the applicator. Fill in if you find that your original marks show in some of the areas by applying a thin line just above with a steady hand.
You can repeat the process for your lower lashes also. You have a choice of stopping at the end for a more natural look or apply a slight tail for the look of continued lashes.
Now you can continue with your makeup finishing touches and your mascara.
More Makeup Tips: The Amazing Benefits of Skin Serums
These products are either oil or water-based and they have the ability to penetrate deep within the layers of your skin. Serums differ from other skin products since they have a higher concentration of active ingredients which produces phenomenal results. They contain up to 70% active ingredients with smaller molecules for better penetration, while facial creams only contain 5 to 10% and have larger molecules. You’ll find that newer formulations use silicones to allow the skin to receive the benefits of the product without the greasiness.
Serums are available to treat specific skin problems. They all restore moisture and elasticity to the skin and regulate oil production. The top benefits include hydration, nourishment, brightening and acne prevention. With continued use they will strengthen skin cells. Once you start using a serum be faithful for at least a month to give it a chance to work.
Once you decide on the right serum for your skin care needs you need to know how to use it.
- Cleanse your face, rinse
- Apply alcohol-free toner
- Apply the serum onto your damp skin for better penetration. Use your fingertips to gently tap the serum on the skin. Be sure to wait before you apply your moisturizer so that the serum has fully absorbed into your skin.
TIP: Keep your moisturizer in the refrigerator. When you apply it cold it will push the blood away from the skin creating a vacuum effect, which will inadvertently pull the serum deeper into your skin.
TIP: Less is best. Excessive use may cause irritation or rashes, as these products are very potent. Use serums as directed
TIP: Never use two serums at the same time!
TIP: Don’t use serums if you have frequent chemical peels or regularly use exfoliation products. Serums are very acidic and can further irritate your skin.
More Makeup Tips: You Can Create a Younger Look
Crow’s Feet – Once you hydrate your skin, apply a pea-size amount of a brightening eye cream using your ring finger.
Red Face – Even out ruddiness with a color-correcting base. Use a large powder brush to gently blend since fingers add heat and sponges add friction, both which will result in more redness.
Expression Lines – To smooth those lines out, first moisturize then apply a primer to lock in the hydration and decrease their appearance.
Brighten Your Eyes – Use duo liners. For a softer look use dark brown and a peach or nude color. Line the top with the darker color and use the lighter color in the inner corners and above lashes.
Emphasize Your Cheekbones – Use a creamy blush. Make a wide smile then tap the color with your ring finger along the bones. Using a blush brush sweep along the bones with upward strokes to blend and lift.
Get You Glow On – An illuminating cream will attract and reflect light, which livens up those dull areas we all have. Tap with your ring finger those areas where the light hits such as above the cheek bones and down the center of your nose.
(This is not recommended for photos since you do not want light reflected in pictures.)

Q: I get confused about the colors of all of the correctors. Can you tell me what they are for so the next time I go shopping I can buy the right one?

- Light Yellow – neutralizes redness and darkness from medium to medium-dark skin
- Green – neutralizes and corrects redness for light to medium skin tones
- Pink –neutralizes and corrects darkness and brightens light to medium skin tones
Q: I wear makeup every day for work. Should I not wear any on the weekends to give my skin a break?
A: It’s always a good idea to routinely let your skin breathe by not applying makeup. This would be a great time to give yourself a facial.
Q: I am pregnant and I don’t know what skin care ingredients to avoid. Is there a list?
A: Makeup and lotions with soy or oil of bergamot may aggravate melasma by making dark spots worse. Your health care provider can provide you with a more complete list.
Q: What can I use at home to help with the redness of my face?
A: You can try any one of these: honey, cucumber, chamomile tea bags (brewed) or aloe vera. However, your redness may be caused by something that might require a visit to your health care provider.
Q: I want to use a clay mask for my zits, should I?
A: Clay is often used to help to clear clogged pores. You can use it just on the zit rather than apply the clay on your entire face if you want to.
Q: Why is good old soap not good to use on my face?
A: Soap strips the skin of natural oils, and your glands react by producing even more oil.
