What is Ascension?
Ascension is a process which everyone is going through right now. The intensification of Earth’s energies is forcing changes in everyone, spiritual seeker or not. The changes are raising humanity’s vibration. People are holding more light and, as a result, are capable of being more and doing more than ever before. Humankind is evolving.
Sleep Disturbance in the New Age
Ah, sleep…I remember it well. Deep, relaxing, refreshing sleep. Waking by the alarm clock eight hours after putting my head on the soft pillow. Those were the good old days.
My sleep has changed with my spiritual awakening and with the energy of the New Age. Now I sleep only for a few hours, often waking repeatedly through the night, sometimes to meditate, sometimes to receive a message from Spirit or from someone who has passed, sometimes because my body is vibrating with a healing from Spirit. Other times I astral travel. With astral travel the “dream” you experience is particularly vivid and you often find yourself having a conversation with someone—they may be alive or they may have passed. You awake in the morning often feeling like you have actually had this conversation—because you did…just in a different dimension of time and space!
I now have lots of lucid dreams and awaken feeling like I was very active in the night. In lucid dreaming, you become conscious during the dream and can interact with it, take control of it, or ask questions of it. What’s really exciting about lucid dreaming for me, though, is that you can leave the dream completely and ask any questions you like from the dream. Some say the answers are coming from your Higher Self, Angels and guides, and others say they are coming from your subconscious. I believe it can be all of the above, depending on what the question is. A really intriguing aspect of lucid dreaming is that you can ask for things that will enhance your spiritual growth. You can ask for healing (and then feel it), you can ask to know your next steps and you can ask questions of Angels, your guides and the Universe. Really, the only limit is what you can think of to ask or do.
The latest thing that has been happening for months now is that I feel like I was awake all night, but I wasn’t. I’m typically having normal thoughts, like planning out my day or remembering what I did the day before. I know I am lying in bed and I believe I am “trying” to sleep. I’ve woken in the morning on many occasions thinking, “I didn’t sleep at all last night,” yet I am not tired. One night, though, when I believed I was awake, Sami the dog came over and put her paws on me to get me to take her out. She woke me up and scared the heck out of me. The same sort of thing has happened on other nights, letting me know that I was, indeed, sleeping. Perhaps it’s another form of lucid dreaming. Perhaps it’s something else.
Other nights I am actually awake most of the night, and again, I am well rested (most nights).
I’m rarely ever awoken by the alarm anymore. Instead, I’m typically awake an hour ahead of it, trying my best to go back to sleep. The sum total of all of this is that I sleep little and when I am asleep, I feel very active, like I have not slept.
But I love it!
Recommendations
“Sleep” has become a very exciting time where much can happen. I have a few recommendations to help you during these changing times.
· Stop telling yourself that you slept so little the night before and you must, therefore, be so tired. Stop telling everyone else how little you slept (we love to do this!) and how tired you are. This is very important: you don’t need the amount of sleep you needed before! This is not age—it’s the New Age! Remind yourself that you are not tired. You are wide awake, alert and able to make it through your day energetically.
· Enjoy the astral travel and lucid dreams. Explore the wealth of wisdom that is there for you. Set your intentions for whom you would like to talk to in astral travel. Plan ahead and have questions ready that you would like answered in your lucid dreams. Slide back into your dreams when you realize you’ve woken up and see what else is there for you. Lay quietly and recreate the circumstances of your dream, but this time stay conscious and watch what happens. Ask the dream what it means and why it’s there. Ask the characters in your dream what they have to tell you.
· When you “should” be sleeping, but you’re not, there is a ton of fun stuff you can do that is helpful spiritually:
o Scan your body to feel areas of tightness and relax them
o Ask Spirit what you need to know and listen for the answer
o Ask Spirit what your day should look like
o Lie still and ask Spirit to work on any challenges you feel physically, emotionally, mentally or spiritually
o Meditate to promote wellness, healing and connection with Source
o Practice any healing techniques on yourself that you know, like Reiki, IET or Shamballa
o Lie quietly and ask to know what the dream you just had was about
o Practice breathing techniques to relax you and bring energy to all parts of your body
o Visualize any part of your body that has a challenge, see it as healed, send it what it needs and breathe into it
Sleep Hygiene
Obviously, it’s important to make sure there is not another reason for your lack of sleep. See a doctor if necessary. Use all of the normal sleep hygiene recommendations, including:
· Manage your stress using meditation and other techniques
· Sleep at regular times
· Darken your room
· Develop a sleep routine
· Limit caffeine and alcohol before bed
· Avoid napping, etc.
When all else fails to improve your sleep, recognize that it’s already perfect. Things have changed in this new energetic world and you may just be getting enough, though it’s not what it used to be. Relax and enjoy! Sweet dreams!
