Create Success With Back to School With Feng Shui!
I can hear teachers saying “No, not yet, summer isn’t over”! And I can hear parents singing, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Traditionally we think of September as the back to school month. In many U.S. states the kids go back to school in August and many teenagers are off to college this month too. I know how hard it can be to put the little ones on a school bus and send the bigger ones away to college. This month we’ll create an environment that strengthens study habits, makes your child (big or little) feel secure, set up a dorm room conducive to study, security and fun and increase knowledge the Feng Shui and angel way!
I remember my little daughter getting on that big school bus for the first day of kindergarten. I don’t know who was more nervous! So I did what any big brave mom would do, I got in my car and drove to the school to meet her when she got off the bus! In two years we’ll be facing the trip to college. Time has flown by!
For students living at home, you need to encourage the best Chi for good health, adaptable routines, while allowing space for homework and creativity. So parents your word of the day is ‘Balance.’ It really is a balancing act with homework, activities, computer, video games and cell phones! Parents understand the need for gaining social and intellectual skills. Balance school time, homework and play time for a happier child. Here are some tips for students to make them feel secure and support them in the new school year. Perform them as always with the intention for the energy you want to create.
• Remove clutter from the bedroom to allow good energy to flow
• Remove cell phone, computer and TV! If you can’t, cover them or put them in a cabinet that can be closed away from EMF.
• Put the head of the bed on a solid wall with a view of the door for a feeling of security
• If space is at a premium, place a storage box under the bed. I never usually recommend this! Store blankets, pillows. No old clothes, toys or clutter
• The Knowledge/Wisdom area at the left front of the room is a great place to put a desk, bookcase and inspirational items
• Place the desk chair against a wall in the command position so they can see the door and feel secure
• Add a round desk light. No pointed edges which are considered negative or poison energy
• Place a world globe, statue of an owl or items from the earth (crystal, geode), etc on the desk
• If your student will study in the bedroom, paint it a warm color. You can change color and décor as a child grows
• Bright blue, green and yellow can support ‘bright’ kids. Don’t use red because it’s very stimulating and not conducive to a good night’s sleep
• Put a healthy plant in the Family area for academic growth. That’s the left middle side of the bedroom. Team pictures work well here too
• Place good report cards or notes from a favorite teacher in the Helpful People area. This is located in the right front corner of the bedroom
• Hang academic or activity awards in a red frame in the Fame/Reputation area of the bedroom. This is in the middle of the back wall.
• Artwork, crafts, or a bright light can be placed in the Creativity area. This is in the middle of the right hand wall. Be creative!
Make these energetic changes for all your children. If you have a teenager and a younger child, separate their bedrooms as they have different needs. Parents, teach your kids self-respect and respect for their rooms, their teachers and others. They will be happy, centered and independent.
Everyone needs to be organized. When you’re busy you don’t have time for them to pick their clothes every morning so lay out clothes the night before. Have the kids try on clothes before school starts. If they don’t fit or it’s not ‘in’ donate to a charity and get shopping! Check shoes, sneakers and socks too. You’ll be surprised how much they grew over the summer! Have your child help make a list of what’s needed so they are involved in the process. Don’t forget the school supplies. From my experience, buy early!
If you’re a teacher you’ll really benefit by doing some classroom Feng Shui. You have a very hard job and should be honored! I don’t think I’d want to teach kids all day! I like this quote: “The best teachers teach from the heart, not from the book.” Here are a few tips to energize and inspire in the classroom.
• Remove any clutter from the previous school year, it’s a distraction
• Bring in healthy green plants for fresh oxygen and good energy
• Create a good flow of energy coming in the door and circulating around the classroom. Make sure there are no blocks
• Try to arrange the desks in a curved shape and not a straight line. This encourages creativity and thinking ‘outside of the box’
• If the desks have to be in a straight line, make sure they are not in line with the doorway. The incoming energy may be too harsh for some students
• When you set up the classroom go easy on very bright colors like red which can cause disruption or anger in some kids
• Too many decorations actually become clutter. This can cause subconscious feelings of commotion or confusion in your students
• Organize art supplies and storage boxes
• Hang posters of nature scenes because it has a calming effect for all of you
• If you can use a diffuser in the classroom try pure lavender oil to calm students and you. A citrus scent like orange will wake up the sleepy-heads
• Keep work areas clean and clear so a project will seem less overwhelming
