Fall Into Feng Shui
The active Yang Fire energy of the summer is now feeding the Earth energy of early autumn. In Feng Shui, fall is the season we begin to come together again with family, friends, homework and sports.
This summer was hot and steamy on East Coast of the U.S. Traditionally October has warm days, cooler evenings and the leaves turn to beautiful shades of gold, amber and orange. The active Yang Fire energy of the summer is now feeding the Earth energy of early autumn. In Feng Shui, fall is the season we begin to come together again with family, friends, homework and sports. And a new rhythm begins. Think of gathering around a fireplace or a large screen TV for football! For our family it’s a hectic time of year. Our daughter is in her high school marching band and we have competitions, football games, fundraising activities and more. Sometimes I do long for those lazy days of summer!
Feng Shui principles say this is a time of transition between seasons. It’s so important to set intentions for the school year or new projects. De-clutter and smudge your home to clear out any negative or stagnant Chi and items you no longer need. It’s time to welcome the more comfy and cozy feel of autumn before the rush of the holiday season. Bring nature’s spectacular colors into your artwork, pillows, blankets, throw rugs, candles and any other décor you use. I love autumn colors, they’re so rich and vibrant! Here are some Fall Feng Shui tips:
• Pack away seasonal clothes, donate or have a garage sale
• Sell or donate excess outdoor/indoor furniture and décor items
• Make any repairs to the front door to welcome the prosperous Chi
• Place welcoming yellow mum plants on either side of the front door
• If you’re painting, try an uplifting color to compensate for darker evenings
• Create a Vision Board with the intention to manifest family goals
• If you do Reiki or other energy healing methods, send healing energy into every room of your home.
• Add extra lighting or set timers for an earlier time to keep rooms bright
• Light pure non-toxic beeswax candles
• Place a bowl of bright red apples for prosperity on the kitchen or dining room table
• Fill a vase with orange zinnias, red hibiscus, yellow day lilies or other gorgeous fall flowers that grow in your area to raise the Chi
• A vase of sunflowers will encourage you to turn your face towards Heaven
• It’s harvest time so show off your completed projects in your home office or family projects in the Fame/Reputation area (middle back of the home)
• Open the windows to let in the sunlight and fresh air to raise and refresh the Chi
• Repair fixtures, replace burned out bulbs, clean windows and de-clutter to prepare for winter
October Moon Cycles
The New Moon is October 15, at 8:03AM EST. This is the time to write your abundance checks! Be open to receive from the Universe just in time for holiday shopping! Seriously, if you feel abundant in your life then you’re already rich! To write this check, take one out of your checkbook. Where it says, “Pay To” write your name. Where you fill in the dollar amount, write “Paid in Full.” Where you would write the dollar amount, write “Paid in Full.” Sign the check from “The Law of Abundance or The Universe.” You can leave the date blank if you like or write “All Time.” There is no limit on abundance from the Universe! So really feel you being totally abundant! Now put it in a safe place and don’t worry about how or when abundance comes, let the Universe figure that out! The Farmer’s Almanac says “A new Moon in your dreams promises increased wealth or a happy marriage.”
You can also make a list of new moon wishes. Feng Shui says to write only 10 wishes in red ink and put them in a red envelope. I place mine in my pillowcase to sleep on them until the next new moon!
The Full Hunter’s Moon is on October 29 at 3:49 PM EST. This moon is so named because its bright light allowed hunters to see their prey and stockpile food for winter. The full moon is a great time to release or unburden yourself of anything that is not in your best and highest good. You can write down what you want to release and burn the paper or drop it in water to symbolically cleanse things away. Set your intention and ask the angels to help you release these burdens. It’s also a good time to smudge your home and put your crystals out to be cleansed in the full moon’s energy. Feel free to create your own ritual too! The Farmer’s Almanac says “Babies born a day after the full Moon enjoy success and endurance.” Now that’s a lucky baby!
Spooky Feng Shui
All Hallows’-Eve observed in Great Britain and other European countries, began as a Pagan Harvest Festival. It was also influenced by All Saints Day in Christian culture. Now known as Halloween, it’s celebrated around the world on October 31. It’s become a fun day with little ghosts and goblins asking ‘trick or treat?’ In my neighborhood you better have lots and lots of treats! We celebrate the day with kids dressed in costumes, a parade, jack-o’-lanterns, visiting scary places, playing pranks and watching horror movies. If you’re planning a party or just love the day as I do, here’s some Feng Shui Halloween tips.
Did you know that bats used in Halloween decorations are really great Feng Shui? In ancient China bats were used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. The Chinese pronunciation for the word ‘bat’ is the same as ‘prosperity’ so it became a symbol of wealth. When you hang up a picture of 5 bats and the symbol for longevity, it means “good wealth and luck multiplied by five and a long life.” So go a little batty and increase your wealth too! I always recommend that people uplift the Chi in their home. You may be wondering why I overlook that a bit when using black or frightening items for Halloween. The reason is: because they’re fun and the decorations are not up that long! Please do use discernment regarding the amount of Halloween décor items you display and how scary they might be to little children!
• Carve and display a pumpkin with a candle or light inside
• Place black bats on the outside of your front door (Career)
• Hang a black wreath on the front door (Career) or above a fireplace to represent water and balance the fire energy
• Add a spider web or ghost doormat
• Hang decorative owls facing outside a window or by the door to scare away any negative energy
• Use two black caldrons filled with Bat plants, Wolfsbane, Dragon Time or Vamp Time mums, ghost ferns, Bleeding Hearts, Eyeball Plants or a Voodoo house plant
• Tie up dead foliage and use it as haystacks for outdoor decor
• Use pumpkin shaped orange or gold candles as a table centerpiece
• Orange is a lively color and is great in the Fame area (back middle of your home)
• Don’t display any scary items in bedrooms or in the Relationship/Marriage area
The Angel of Autumn – Archangel Michael
He is known as the leader of all angels and archangels. Call upon AA Michael to give you strength, courage and unwavering faith. In my experience, he is an angel of few words. Our chats are mostly one sided – mine! He is a powerful angel of action and he is always depicted with a sword. You can ask him to use his sword to cut away any etheric cords that are attached to you by negative people and situations. These cords will drain your energy and make you feel exhausted. He will never cut away love! Part of my spiritual practice is to ask him every evening to ‘cut my cords’ from any lower or negative energy that I was exposed to during the day.
AA Michael is also charged with being the Protector of Earth. He supports each of us humans and also every living thing on Earth. He helps us remember that we have the love of the Creator within us. We are all connected, we are all one!
My purpose is to inspire you to create your best life! Please visit my website to see how we can work together to accomplish your goals. Remember that there are special savings for Bellesprit Magazine readers on the Bellesprit Services page!
Happy Halloween!
