yourself? The saying “you are never too old to learn” is genuine. Is there something new you would still like to accomplish? Do you wish to add to your skills? If so, maybe consider taking a course. This month take a step to make it possible and have fun doing so. It is never too late to start. Let us spend a moment, thinking about what it would be like if we decided to learn something new filled with excitement and the curiosity of a child. Actually doing it because you want to, not because you had to. You can; it is your choice. Are you ready? Let’s do it? Grab your notebook and pen and start by writing it down: “Today I choose to learn…” I am a student of __________. I am a beginner of ______. Excellent, you are now ready. Set out on this exploration like a child with wonder and begin your day of learning what you choose. During your adventure, or at the conclusion of your day, do the following: Draw or take pictures of items that caught your attention. Make a note of all the things you saw, heard, and did during your journey today. Describe the feelings you felt. These steps will create a record of your day. Did you know you could learn something new everyday, even if it is just your normal ordinary day? You can learn more just by looking closer and seeing deeper into each day – by being present in each moment. There really may be a present there for you to see. Autumn can be a time to see and study the changes and accomplishments that have happened in your life since last September. Why not look back and see where you have changed and succeeded in your life? Create a list. Even small accomplishments are valuable. Find the successes you might have overlooked. By exploring your successes in the past year, it can be easier to see the growth and changes in your life. We get caught up in our busy day-to-day routine and we often lose track of what we have managed to complete. Often, we tend to pay attention to what we haven’t achieved. Let’s get our supplies together and chart our accomplishments and changes. Changes do bring accomplishments, too. When one goes through changes, it can take strength, patience and endurance to preserver through them. Have you noticed the changes yet? It can be interesting to find out how far we have come. And where we haven’t succeeded or moved forward, we can then make adjustments and shift our direction if we choose to. Right now, without judging, write down 5 things that you learned from last September until now. Next, fill in the blanks… I am a graduate of _________. I am an expert at ________. Nature is telling us to show our true colours demonstrated by the changing of the leaves. To drop our old beliefs that are stopping us from teaching what we have mastered and not hide our talents. When one is colourful one is not hidden. In my last article, I also mentioned how one is recognized for his/her craft. Where in your life can you change your colours and show your skills? Each season and each month has a different focus. Where summer was recognizing the blossoming of abundance and growth, fall, in general, is the time of harvest and reaping the rewards. September is adding to that growth by being an apprentice to hone our talents or acquire new skills to aspire further. See the success in your life and focus on what tools you would like to add to your tool chest. It can be that simple, just by deciding to do it. One step at a time or a great leap, it is your choice. It is time to sharpen your pencil and flex that wrist. Today, you choose to…? Class 1 is going to be…?” Or is it time to take action with our knowledge and teach what we have achieved. You can decide to inspire others. Take on the role of the teacher. As we venture through life, we acquire wisdom and knowledge through the years and experiences over the long time. Perhaps this September you are the teacher. Yes, you. Picture yourself as the teacher standing in front of the classroom. What comes to mind that you would teach? What type of class would it be? When one goes to school, there are many classes in one day. What curriculum would the class have? Can you come up with exercises for a day’s curriculum? Let’s remember to add humour to the classes, for when a person is having fun and laughing, one will pay attention longer and learn more. Become the teacher. Examine your life from this point of view and see what it is you can teach to others. Is there anything that you are currently teaching? Everyone teaches something or someone from time to time. Calling up that saying: “Every student is a teacher,” and vice versa. Whether we are the student or teacher, September would be a swell time to focus on training – giving and getting. The ability or opportunity to learn or teach what one loves makes a big difference. Finding this balance between being the teacher and the student in your life brings a broadening of learning to one’s life. Think of that apple article last month; are you the apple or the source? Or are they one of the same? This September, let’s have fun exploring fresh ideas and new adventures. Find time to honour our successes and teach what we have mastered through the years. Just as the world spirals, we too continue to evolve. Life is a school and we can be both the Sensei and the Grasshopper. The school bell is ringing… time to enter into the classroom. Bite into that apple and become the master of your life. Views:]]>
