The page of Cups is a child aged 0-18. They are adorable, sweet, loving, affectionate, gentle creatures. However, they are also moody, sulky, and serious and cannot take a joke. A pleasure to raise – but need constant reassurance and affection. They learn from a very young age that love makes the world go round. They are here to love and just want to be loved in return. Parenting one of these children, you get a lot back – they just simply adore the people that adore them. If they fall out with a friend at school, they think their whole world has collapsed. They value close friendships and seem to need one best friend rather than a large circle. This makes them feel safe and secure in their surroundings. The knight of cups is our child growing up. This card signifies a teenager (male or female) from the age of 18 – 30. They are constantly on the lookout for love. They take dating and romance very seriously – they cannot just have a boyfriend or a girlfriend as a teenager, they are always planning ahead, dreaming of the white wedding and starting a family. This starts in the page of cups stage – sometimes from as young as 12. Love is important to them and they wear their heart on the sleeve. Often getting their heart broken, they learn to hide the pain, making them secretive and careful. These guys are the loveliest, most genuine people – on the lookout for the perfect love – not settling until they find their idea of perfection in a relationship. Yes, this means that they would have affairs, hoping that the next person is a little closer to perfection than the last. Here is our female knight all grown up. This card in the deck is the “mummy” card. She is a lovely, caring devoted mother and wife. She is still as sensitive and gentle as she was as a child, making her vulnerable sometimes. She would ideally love to be able to afford to stay at home, keeping home and raising her children the traditional way. She gets hurt a lot and still finds it difficult to put into words how she is feeling. It has to be said, this is the woman who is capable of gossiping… never nastily, but carelessly, through idle chit chat on the playground. She seems to get rather jealous of what other people have and aspires to keep up with the Jones a lot. This lady by the way is every girl’s best friend. She can be a true friend once you have earned her trust and will be there for you whenever you need her. Here is our male knight all grown up. The king of cups is now a man, aged 30 upwards. He has matured into a fine man, still having the gentle, sensitive characteristics that he had as a young boy. He is the hands on Daddy that adores his family and loves to play with his children. He is not afraid to change the nappies and everything he does is to give his family the very best. But, this man still needs loving and attention paid to him, just like when he was a knight. The most romantic man you could ever want to meet. What happens if his wife focuses too much on the children and forgets him? He might well look elsewhere, still searching for the Mills and Boon romance he believes is real. So, married to one of these men ladies you have to remember to give him oodles of affection and love just like you did when first dating! Remember – all he wants is to be loved. So, now think of the cups people you know in your life. Understanding how the other star signs see life is important for relationships to work. Raising water sign children can be very rewarding and fulfilling, but sometimes you are not able to see why they don’t take work seriously, or why they would drop all dreams and goals for love. Knowing these people cards in your deck as real people can help you be a genuine tarot reader and a sympathetic one, seeing the situation from their angle. I hope this has explained the suit of cups to you in an easy and simple way. If this has offended any water signs reading this, don’t worry – you will get the last laugh when I cover the fire signs in a few months.
I have a new 2 hour DVD released– in both UK and US formats. It teaches you how to read these cards for yourself.
