This month let’s talk about the next suit in the tarot. – Wands, which refers to Work. The thing we love to hate but are essential in life and also a popular subject that people want to know about in their tarot readings. The Ace is the first card in each suit and then we have 2 – 10. Together, they tell a story, which I think makes it a lot easier to understand why one of these cards is in a reading.
All Aces are new beginnings. The Ace of Wands is a new chapter in your work or career. This card indicates a new idea that comes out of the blue to do with work. It could be someone suggesting an opportunity to you or it could be the moment you see or hear something that clicks inside you. Such as, an idea to set up your own business or start a new career path. The seed has been sown with this card. Often, these light-bulb moments for me personally are the best ever and lead onto utter success.
The 2 of Wands in The Faulkner Tarot Deck has a picture of a man about to put his name to an important piece of paper. There is an anxious feeling linked to this card – it’s the decision making moment – do I or don’t I – go for this opportunity.
The 3 of Wands shows us a picture of two men shaking hands firmly. A decision and agreement has been made. This card tells us that a new job or business has been started. New contracts have been signed and new deals have been made. But look closely – the blinds in the back are closed – this tells me you cannot see the whole picture – this deal is going to lead into so much more and brings new people into the equation that you will be very happy with. You can only see what’s directly in front of you – yet this card promises you that even more good things and good news is to come!
The 4 of wands is our holiday card! Put your feet up, relax! You have come so far from the Ace of Wands moment when you had the initial idea for your business or career. Time now to stop for a while and take a breather – but… this is a short lived holiday card – you know damn well the work will be piled up waiting for you when you return from your holiday.
The 5 of wands shows us our man with his head in his hands. Disaster has happened whilst he was away on his cheap break! This card signifies lack of money, bitchiness, a little bit of gossiping behind your back – jealousy, maybe of you being able to afford a holiday? Lack of resources and lack of customers – did your main competitor make the most of you being away? Don’t worry – it’s only a “short term delay or problem.”
The 6 of wands – Hooray! The orders are coming back in thick and fast – business is back to normal – the orders are coming in and success is depicted with this card. That local advertisement you put in the paper really worked and reminded all the locals that you are very much here!
The 7 of wands – Oh no – here is our man yet again with a stumbling block. He now can’t deal with all the work he has on his plate. Too much to handle now – this is a stressful time. He doesn’t know where to start. Basically, his company is doing very well but he is finding it hard work and slow going to keep up with it all by himself. Lack of money – cash flow problems need to be addressed here. Has he got the stamina to keep going?
The 8 of wands; BINGO! This card is success for the business. It signifies promotion, good news – our man can be seen firmly shaking the hand of a new associate. He has brought in someone new to help with the workload or maybe he has signed another deal with a company that can help. You have to trust other people to move up in the business world.
The 9 of wands means stress, burdens, too much on our plate. The picture shows our man getting rather hot under the collar and we can see a calendar in the background. This tells me that he has deadlines to achieve and he is not sure if he is going to run out of time. He really is pushing himself to the limit in this card. The stress levels are at an all time high. With the success of the 6 wands and the taking on of a new associate in the 8 wands – the orders are flying in – yet he cannot take the pressure.
The 10 of wands! Oh no! He has hit boiling point. Our man can be seen throwing all his paperwork up in the air – giving up in a total meltdown. He has taken on far too much and is too tried to deal with everything himself. When we get to this card it tells us that for the sake of our health, we need to deal with one problem at a time. So what happens next?
We go right back to the beginning – another Ace of wands moment. Oh yes! Let’s wait for the light bulb moment that brings a solution to our problems. And, as always, we work our way through the entire suit of wands – the highs, the lows, hopefully ending up with a successful business or career.
I have a new 2 hour DVD released– in both UK and US formats. It teaches you how to read these cards for yourself. The DVD is available through my website and also at www.amazon.com and www.amazon.co.uk.
