I figured after 2 and half years, it would be a good time to look back on the history of The Malliard Report.
By Jim Malliard, The Malliard Report
It has been a wild ride. I was going to do this article in first person, but I decided to go with my listener questions so I can be sure to talk about what people want to hear.
Question from Kimberley Simon:
“Where would you like to take your work/The Report in another year?”
Jim: That’s a tough Question. Truthfully, some would tell you broadcast radio. I just can’t say that. I love my current format. I think it gives the listener’s something they can’t find other places.
Question from Joey Bell:
“What motivated you to start The Report?”
Jim: This doesn’t have an easy answer either. I was co-hosting a show and it ended badly to say the least. So, 10 days after that show ended, The Malliard Report was born. But, this time I wanted to interview and talk paranormal. I enjoyed that part of the earlier shows.
Question from Don Danger Collins:
“In the years you have been doing The Report, have you found that the most intriguing evidence is often the simplest?”
Jim: The thing that always gets me is the real history. So, I think the facts are always the most interesting part of the stories.
Question from Kimberly Rackley:
“I’m all about being passionate and fully expressing authentically in whatever we do in life, and I know you are too, so my question is, what was your initial vision and intention for The Malliard Report and has that vision changed?”
Jim: Well when I started, I just wanted to talk to Investigators. But now, I love to interview authors, musicians and whoever else strikes my interests.
Question from Jimmy Haunted:
“How often do guests flake out?”
Jim: Rarely do I book a guest and never hear back from them. But, if this happens, worst case is I have a few people that I can call in a major pinch, or I will just rant about whatever topic is on my mind.
Question from Lindsay Anne Kendal:
“Do you get nervous when conducting interviews?”
Jim: Yes, every time I do an interview. I always worry that I will run out of things to talk about with the guest.
Question from Cody Smith:
“Have you noticed a significant change in the way the field operates investigations since The Report started?”
Jim: Yes, it seems the field is more wild west. Many groups are trying anything for fame and glory.
Question from Barbara Braccini:
“Of all your guest, who was the most influential to you personally and why?”
Jim: David Rountree. His pressure and help through his book, Paranormal Technology: Understanding the Science of Ghost Hunting really opened my eyes to science in the paranormal.
Question from Jonathan Vanover:
“Has The Report been a tool where you have learned that there is more to life than what meets the eye? Your guests on the show seems to be from all walks of life and professions. What is the biggest lesson you have learned from doing The Report?”
Jim: I respect Coast To Coast AM, it is a big deal. But that title is dated. It was very huge was in its day. Now, my show is heard in 114 counties and in all 50 states. So, I have learned the world is smaller than ever.
Question from Danielle Monferrato:
“You have been running a one man show for a while now. What is the most difficult aspect of that for you?”
Jim: Writing requests for guest appearances, previews and posting show blogs is the most challenging for me. The hosting has gotten easier. Web design is always a headache, but I can delete it and not look stupid.
