What is meant by unconditional connection? We live in a world today where everything is set up according to conditions. What if you want to make a large purchase on credit? The conditions are that your credit score must be within a certain range. This does not just apply to material things- it also applies to how we respond to one another in relationships of all kinds. It does not matter if it is a spouse, child, parent, friend or neighbor. Whoever it is, we as humans put conditions on our love for one another. Conditions also relate to judgement, before we even speak to someone, we have already made a judgement call on them at first sight. Therefore, the understanding that we all have an unconditional connection and united as a oneness with the Universe does not even exist in our thoughts when we are in judgement mode. The big question is how do we love others unconditionally? First, we must love ourselves unconditionally. I wrote last month about forgiveness, and this month, I am still on the forgiveness train. Only this time I am bumping it up with a whole new concept for all of us to think about and that is unconditional love. Before we can even comprehend forgiveness and unconditional connection to love, we must understand that we are all connected as a whole within the Universe. When we do reach this level of understanding, it is totally mind-blowing. My first time was an early morning in December of 2011. I was very blessed while I was going through my divorce that I was able to live on a beautiful estate in Charleston, South Carolina. The house I lived in was like a palace that sat in the middle of a wide open field surrounded by the inter-coastal waterway and many beautiful oak trees. This one particular morning I stumbled into the kitchen to prepare my morning addiction. This kitchen had a small window that looked out into part of the open space with a four hundred year old oak tree on it. While my coffee was brewing, I was looking out of the window and happened to notice this amazing oak tree. It was bare of leaves, with only moss draping over the branches. I recall it being a bit breezy as the moss would sway along with the wind. I continued to look at this tree for a few moments and suddenly it happened, the light bulb in my head flickered on. I thought of how beautiful that tree was, even though there were no leaves on it, just moss. I could not get over the beauty of it and as I continued to stare at it in awe, I thought to myself, “That tree was made of love. The Universe/God made that tree from love. If God made that tree of love, then I am made of love, just like the tree.” I quickly began to see the connection between myself and every living thing on this planet. I figured all this out before even having my first cup of coffee for the day. I know, you are now wondering where I am going with all of this. It is very simple. When we begin to understand that we are ALL connected with every living person or thing in this universe, then the idea of forgiveness and unconditional connection to love is easier to digest. The moment we separate ourselves from all living things, we go into judgement mode “faster than a New York minute.” We judge others because we also judge ourselves. I truly believe it is just human nature and it is a lesson that the Universe is always trying to help us through. One way of looking at others is to realize that we all have lessons we are trying to learn in this life. I recall just recently riding down our street with my boyfriend, Brian. He noticed an older woman on our street had a new fence up and stated that she had to put that fence up all by herself. He could not believe that her two grown sons did not help her. He immediately began placing judgement calls on the two sons. I listened for a moment and then butted in, explaining that he does not know the situation and that he was only making assumptions. For all we know, this lady could have been very picky about how she wanted her fence put up. Maybe her sons were busy working their own jobs, or maybe she wanted to put the fence up herself so that she could learn something new, or perhaps she knew how to do it and knew she could do it more efficiently on her own. The point is that neither Brian nor I really knew what the real circumstances were regarding this woman putting her own fence up rather than her strong children. I live in a city where many low income people live. When I see these people in the grocery store or on the streets, it is very easy to make a judgement call, especially when I see that they appear to be on some kind of substance. When I catch myself making the judgement, I suddenly stop and remind myself that I do not know their circumstances and also, that it is not my place to judge. This really changes things within me. I no longer see what I would have judged to be a society reject. Instead, I see love. If that oak tree I saw several years ago and I are made of love, then so are they. I am always taken back in awe with these folks, just as I was with the oak tree that day, when I see them as love. When we are able see this kind of unconditional love, our world will become filled with peace and joy, as we discover the connected alignment with the Universe. Views:]]>
