With all of us being impacted by the Cardinal Grand Cross, our lives are in upheaval. It is not of our own making, nor can we avoid it.

In astrology, a Grand Cross is said to occur when four planets are all separated from each other by Square aspects (90 degrees apart). It is said to take extraordinary effort to overcome the conflicts in a Grand Cross.
It is difficult to breathe with all the energy and tension in the air. Where can we find solace? How do we make sense of all the changes being imposed on us, and those we love? Yes, drastic change is in the air – actually, in every cell of our being. Each of us feels out-of-control, no longer able to navigate the roads we frequently travel. There is not enough time – and, too much time to feel so deeply. It is supposed to be spring in the Northern Hemisphere – but winter refuses to leave! So what is the reason, and what is the season? Can any of us count on anything anymore? Are we able to count on ourselves? Can we count on family and friends?
We are all students. We are all teachers. Each of us mirrors the other. Every single person is going through many changes on every level. We can choose to learn, or do we try to run and hide from what the energies are trying to reveal to the deepest part of ourselves? When we share our journey – our innermost thoughts and feelings, our experiences – both success and failure, we enable others to truly see us in all our humanity.
It brings to mind one of my very favorite songs by Pete Seeger, may he rest in peace.
Turn! Turn! Turn! (To Everything There Is a Season).” Often abbreviated to “Turn! Turn! Turn!” is a song adapted entirely from the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Bible (with the exception of the last line) and put to music by Pete Seeger in 1959. Pete Seeger recorded his own version in 1962.
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time to be born, a time to die
A time to plant, a time to reap
A time to kill, a time to heal
A time to laugh, a time to weep”
Even though a part of us may be dying, it is most likely what no longer serves us. It is as though we are shedding our skin as a snake does. We cannot plant until the time is right – nor can we reap until the harvest is ready. And taking liberty here, there is a time to kill – our ego. Ego that tells us we are less, or greater than anyone else. Ego that insists that Mother Earth and her inhabitants serve and suffer us.
But then comes the time to heal. The time is now. We cannot heal unless we acknowledge our wounds, whether those wounds are from previous lifetimes, inherited by the pain we experienced as children growing up decades ago, or in the recent past. “A time to heal” can only come when we feel that pain, acknowledge it, and then let it go, forgive those that trespass against us, and bless them – wishing only what is for their highest good. It is as though a huge burden is lifted, a brilliant light shining in what remained in the shadows for too long.
Only after healing, can there come “A time to laugh” because we have taken “a time to weep.” Tears rid our body of toxic poisons of jealousy, resentment, anger, and even bitterness. Just because a person is bitter, they do not have to remain bitter. For as these beautiful verses and song remind us, “there is a time to every purpose under heaven”!
A time to build up, a time to break down
A time to dance, a time to mourn
A time to cast away stones, a time to gather stones together
There is divine order even in the midst of chaos. If we flow with the energies, we realize that change is the only constant. If we refuse to change, we become stagnant and begin to break down. Music lifts our spirits, inspires us, and soothes our soul. If we take “A time to dance,” we recall life as a precious gift.
Yes, we will lose loved ones, and there will be “a time to mourn.” Yet, if we are grateful for the time we shared with the loved one that has passed, we realize how fortunate we were to have had them in our lives.
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time of love, a time of hate
A time of war, a time of peace
A time you may embrace, a time to refrain from embracing”
As we review our life lessons learned – and other lessons learned not so much; we recall the wisdom in the Book of Ecclesiastes in the Holy Bible and in this beautiful song of the 1960s. It was a time of drastic change. A time of rebelling against what was. A time to proclaim freedom. “A time of love” – and, yes, “a time of hate” and “a time of war” during the war in Vietnam. Even with all the love-ins, and peaceniks of the sixties, there was never long for “a time of peace.” It was “a time of embracing” called free-love. Then with the onset of the aids virus and STDS, it became “a time to refrain from embracing,” putting an end to free-love.
We learned that all love has a price whether it be deep-abiding love that breaks our heart when the loved one is lost, or love that is misplaced and unrequited, or the death of a loved one.
Many astrologers forecast that this Cardinal Grand Cross is a throw-back to the 1960’s. I see this Cardinal Grand Cross as a higher octave of the 1960s. I sense this will be a time of greater awareness, of higher consciousness. It will be a time of global consciousness. This is not a time to ‘let it be’ as the Beatles sang, but a time for us all to be one. This will be a time when we need to bond with one another in conscious groups to change the world for the better. To honor Mother Earth and all our relations. To stop global climate change through changing our individual life-styles. Communes were popular in the sixties. Conscious communities will flourish where like-minded individuals will choose to live with less of a carbon footprint. Maybe we will opt out. But this time, we will opt out of supporting corporate greed and the never-ending lust for profit. Lifestyle will be key which will bring many back to living off the grid.
To Everything (Turn, Turn, Turn)
There is a season (Turn, Turn, Turn)
And a time to every purpose, under Heaven
A time to gain, a time to lose
A time to rend, a time to sew
A time for love, a time for hate
A time for peace, I swear it’s not too late”
If we follow our hearts, go beyond our fear of the unknown, we will realize this is the opportunity for “a time to gain,” because we took “a time to lose.” “A time to rend” will be the time we shed our false fronts and values to make way for “a time to sew” a magnificent new glorious consciousness of many colors. Then, and only then, can we take “A time for love” because we took “a time for hate” of all that is wrong in our lives and on Mother Earth. With all my heart, my prayer is “A time for peace,” I agree with Pete Seeger, R.I.P., who was the voice of a generation, “I swear it’s not too late”! Blessings Be!
