Do any of us really have the same perspective? What do we base our own perspectives on? Can perspectives be spiritual in nature? Every month as I ponder about the topic of my article, it comes as no surprise to me that Spirit guides me and that the article has already written itself within my heart. As I was away this weekend at a Health and Wellness Spiritual Symposium, I started to ponder my chosen topic, already knowing what it would reveal. As the weekend continued, I stay tuned in to Source and the synchronicities that were all around me. Everywhere I saw ‘perspective.’ That one very important word was spoken by many this weekend with such different context. Perspective has been a word that has lingered into many conversations lately. A word that seems to be highly used between people. A word that, for me, has brought much profound awareness and the need to explore it on a deeper level. Perspective, such a simple word, yet a word that has so much depth. As defined by the Webster’s Dictionary, perspective is “A particular attitude toward or way of regarding something; a point of view.” Perspective is such an interesting word as it can be itself perceived in so many different ways. One’s own perspective is unique to that person. It includes but not limited to: thought processing, past experiences, spirituality, connection, physically seeing, energetically seeing, moods, situations and so much more. Do any of us really have the same perspective? What do we base our own perspectives on? Can perspectives be spiritual in nature? As I pondered these questions, it led me to deep thoughts around this one, but very profound, word. A person’s perspective may or may not be altered by their past experiences. A person’s perspective may be a higher form of thinking, such as in spirituality. A person’s perspective can lead to fights, disagreements and even wars. A person’s perspective may or may not be used metaphorically. Now what does all this mean? I could keep this simple, however I’m not! Let’s just explore for a moment this unique word. Where one person perceives beauty, another may not. One person perceives something as wrong where another person does not. One person perceives an argument one way and the other person the total opposite. One person perceives a painting a certain way, and the other person a different way. A person may hear something one way and you totally different. Who is correct when it comes to perception? Well it’s not about who is right and who is wrong, rather it is about compassionately accepting that each one of us has a unique way to see, hear, feel and experience the happenings of our lives within the world we live. Some perceive the world through a very small and narrow lens where others perceive the world through a very large and wide lens incorporating much more than the physical world. For example, imagine you are a photographer with this large, expensive, state of the art camera. You drive yourself to this beautiful town that you have been wanting to shoot. You choose carefully making sure it has every detail you are looking for. As you are taking photos in this picture perfect neighborhood you notice that you are only getting one view, even though you have many different angles, it is still one perspective. You want a different perspective so as to capture more depth, more views, and more life within these photos. You slowly take your camera away from your eye and survey the surroundings, which you did not fully see before looking through your lens. You turn and notice a very large hill behind you, almost a small mountain. Something you would not have noticed if you hadn’t taken the camera lens away from your eye. You decide to climb this very large hill, to gain a new perspective of this beautiful neighborhood that you are shooting. The climb is steep, long, tiring and at some point you even need to sit and take a break. You stagger, trip and catch your balance many times. You know when you reach the top the view is going to be epic and you keep climbing one step at a time. You finally reach the top and your breath is taken away from the new perspective at a higher level. Your camera lens now can capture a deeper feeling within the photos, more complex. The new view has enlightened you to what you could not have possibly seen before. Your photos take on a whole new meaning. The view through the camera is like no other you have seen. You decide to take the camera lens off your eye and begin to slowly scan every direction with your eyes. Taking in all that is within your reach physically and energetically. You “see” so much more and “feel” so much more without the narrow camera lens at your eye. It almost felt like it inhibited your full view. The world is yours to behold now. The gifts are yours to receive. The river that runs below with twists and turns around rocks and small grass islands, that you could not see when you were at ground level, offers you peace. The intricate work of the church steeple that can only be seen with the bird’s eye view, which now you have, brings forth beauty and excitement of artistic creativity. The manicured grass of the backyards that lead into patterns of various tones of light and dark greens bring new clarity. The trees that give way to the woods below where the sun peeks through the tops casting dappled lights along the forest floor. This new perspective is yours to behold because you removed the lens and chose to climb the very big hill of life. Perspective is just shifting one’s own thought to a higher way of thinking, removing that lens, or blockage, to see things, hear things and feel things in a different way. Perspective is a constant growth practice that is never ending. As one continues to climb the spiritual ladder of up-leveling and shifting, the view as you once saw it no longer serves you. It brings forth deeper clarity, deeper knowing and deeper wisdom. Physically we can climb to become higher above ground level and to be able to physically see in a new way. Spiritually we climb energetically and intuitively to reach a higher state of being. Moving closer to Spirit within us to continually bring a new perspective to everyday life. For without continually growing towards a new perspective, do we really see at all? Or is this all an illusion of your own perspective? Views:]]>
